Quickstart

1. Craft the Monster Spellbook using the recipe below.
2. Hold the book in your hand and use the Read interaction to open it.
3. Speak one of the known spell phrases in chat while holding the book to summon monsters near yourself.
4. Watch your cooldown — each spell can only be recast after a set amount of time.

Overview

Monster Spellbook turns an ordinary book into a magical item that lets you summon hostile mobs on command by typing specific spell phrases into chat. It's a fun way to conjure danger (or an ambush) wherever you're standing, rather than placing spawn eggs or using commands.

What It Adds

• Monster Spellbook — a rare, glowing, sword-slot equippable book item that can be "Read" to interact with it.
• A set of spoken spells that summon specific monsters around the caster when typed in chat.

How To Use

• Hold the Monster Spellbook in your hand.
• Type a spell phrase into the chat box exactly as written (spelling and spacing matter, though case and punctuation are ignored).
• The mobs will spawn near where you are looking, or just in front of you if you aren't looking at a block, within a short radius.
• Each spell has its own cooldown before you can cast it again.

Known Spells

You can add extra words after a spell phrase to try to adjust the number of monsters or the spawn radius — the mod will clamp any request to the spell's maximum allowed count and radius so things don't get too out of hand.

Crafting And Obtaining

The Monster Spellbook is crafted at a crafting table using spider eyes, a ghast tear, a book, and paper.

Once crafted, keep the book in your hotbar or offhand so it's ready whenever you want to cast a spell.

Abilities And Mechanics

• The spellbook itself has no attack or block-placing function — it exists purely to be read/held while you speak spells.
• Spawned monsters appear with normal AI and behavior, so be ready to fight or flee once you summon them.
• Spawn location is determined by where you're looking: if you're aiming at a block, monsters appear near that spot; otherwise they appear in front of you.
• Cooldowns are tracked per player and per spell, so you can wait out one spell's cooldown while still casting a different one.

Progression And Strategy

• Start with weaker, cheaper summons like the creeper (low count) to test spawn placement safely.
• Use call the zombies or summon skeleton legion when you want a bigger fight or to farm drops and experience.
• Because monsters spawn near your look direction, aim carefully — summoning a spider swarm right at your feet can be risky if you're not prepared to fight immediately.
• Manage cooldowns strategically: casting a high-cooldown spell like raise a creeper commits you to a long wait before you can use it again, so plan your battles accordingly.
