Description:

The Miners Lantern is a rare, soul-infused tool that passively accelerates your mining speed. Holding it in your off-hand is all that is required — no activation, no keybind, no fuel. The blue-flame lantern glows with an enchantment sheen, signalling its mystical nature.

| Miners Lantern | Off-hand item that grants Haste I, upgrading to Haste III near a Haste beacon. Stacks up to 1. Has an enchantment glint. |
The lantern also functions as a beacon payment item, meaning you can use it to activate or top up a beacon just like a Netherite ingot or Nether Star. Piglins recognise it as a gold-tier treasure and will not attack you while you hold it.
The recipe is granted to every player on joining the world, so it will appear in your recipe book immediately.
The craft requires 8 Netherite Ingots surrounding a Nether Star — a late-game investment reflecting the lantern's powerful passive effect.
Whenever the Miners Lantern is in your off-hand, you receive a continuous Haste I buff. The effect is ambient (no particles) and refreshes every tick, so it never times out.
If you are within 50 blocks of a level 4 beacon whose primary effect is Haste, the lantern detects this and upgrades your buff to Haste III for as long as you remain in range. The moment you move out of range (or the beacon loses power), the buff quietly drops back to Haste I.
A level 4 beacon requires a full 4-tier pyramid (164 blocks of iron, gold, diamond, netherite, or emerald) and must have Haste selected as its primary effect.
The lantern can be used as a payment item when activating or changing a beacon's effect — a handy bonus if you ever need to reconfigure your setup.
Piglins treat the Miners Lantern as a prized gold item. Holding it prevents them from becoming hostile toward you.
