Midnight Challenger

Quickstart

1. Craft the Midnight Challenger item using the recipe below, then place it in the world like any block.
2. The car assembles itself as a multiblock structure automatically.
3. Right-click any part of the structure to spawn the vehicle and mount it instantly.
4. Drive with your normal movement keys — W to go forward, S to reverse, A/D to steer.
5. Press Ctrl to dismount and leave the car parked. Right-click it again to get back in.
6. To pick the car back up, attack (left-click) the parked vehicle — it drops as an item.

Overview

Midnight Challenger adds a sleek, jet-black rideable car — styled after the Dodge Challenger — to your Minecraft world. It is placed as a multiblock structure that assembles in one step and turns into a drivable entity on demand. The car reaches impressive speeds and leaves a trail of exhaust smoke as you drive, complete with a dashboard HUD showing your speed, heading, and altitude.

How To Use

Placing the Car

Place the Midnight Challenger item on the ground as you would any block. The full multiblock car structure appears automatically around the placement point. Make sure the surrounding area has enough clear space for the structure to form — any occupied blocks may prevent some parts from placing.

Mounting and Driving

Right-click any block that is part of the structure to spawn and immediately mount the car. The view automatically switches to third-person perspective while you are riding.

Note on seat orientation: The seat model faces backwards, but the controls are not inverted. Pressing W always drives the car in the direction you are looking.

The Dashboard HUD

While mounted, a thin bar appears at the top of your screen showing:

• SPD — your current speed in blocks per second
• HDG — your current heading in degrees
• ALT — your current altitude (Y coordinate)

Dismounting and Parking

Press Ctrl to dismount. The car remains in the world as a stationary entity. Shift (sneak) does not dismount you — only Ctrl works, preventing accidental exits at high speed.

Picking Up the Car

Left-click (attack) the parked vehicle to destroy the entity and receive the Midnight Challenger item back in your inventory. It does not drop on its own from damage — you must attack it directly.

Craft the Midnight Challenger at a crafting table using iron ingots, black stained glass, an observer, a redstone block, and minecarts.

The recipe is unlocked automatically when you join a world — no advancements required.

Abilities And Mechanics

• High speed: The car can travel up to ~200 blocks per second (10 blocks per tick) when going forward, and half that speed in reverse or sideways.
• Exhaust smoke: Smoke particles trail behind the car whenever it is moving with a rider.
• Gravity: The car is affected by gravity and will fall if driven off an edge.
• No pushing: The vehicle cannot be pushed by other entities or players.
• Rider invisibility: Your player model is hidden while riding, keeping the visual clean in third-person view.
• Camera: The game automatically switches to third-person back view when you mount, and restores your previous camera setting when you dismount.
• Multiblock integrity: Breaking any single part of the placed structure removes the entire structure at once. The car item is only returned when you attack the spawned vehicle entity, not by breaking the structure blocks.

Progression And Strategy

• The Midnight Challenger is crafted entirely from iron ingots and common materials, making it accessible relatively early in a survival playthrough — no rare resources like netherite are required.
• Plan your parking spots — the car stays exactly where you leave it until you attack it to pick it up.
• Use the ALT reading on the HUD to gauge elevation when driving over uneven terrain.
• Because Shift does not dismount you, you can use sneak for other interactions without accidentally bailing out of a moving car.
