Quickstart

1. Get a vanilla lead and use it to leash a flying creature to yourself.
2. Once leashed, the creature takes off and climbs. Keep the lead attached and let it fly.
3. As it moves away and the lead becomes taut, it pulls you along. Watch where it heads: you cannot steer it.

Overview

Merry Flappins lets flying creatures tow you through the sky while they choose their own route. The creature does the flying; you travel behind it on the lead.

What It Adds

• Leashed flying creatures automatically take off and gain altitude.
• After climbing, they roam between changing waypoints, sometimes heading for nearby treetops.
• A taut lead pulls you toward the airborne creature. A slack lead does not.

How To Use

Leash a flying creature to yourself with a lead. No extra item or activation is needed: flight begins automatically.

The creature initially climbs up to 50 blocks above its leashing height, subject to the world’s build limit, then roams at varying heights. It does not follow your steering or look direction. To end the ride, remove the lead as you normally would.

Abilities And Mechanics

• Tether pull: The lead allows about three blocks of slack before it starts pulling you toward the creature. It does not instantly copy the creature’s speed or movement.
• Grounded creature: The lead does not pull you while the flyer is on the ground.
• Your movement still matters: Normal gravity and falling physics continue to apply, so the tether is not a rigid mount. Take care around hazards and when the creature changes direction or descends.

Progression And Strategy

There is no separate progression system. Use an open area for your first flight, and leave enough clearance for the creature’s initial climb. Since it picks its own route, be ready for changing directions and keep an eye on the terrain below.
