Description
Mediterranean Masonry expands Minecraft’s building options with 160 full-cube masonry blocks inspired by classical Italian and Greek stonework—marbles, terrazzo, travertine, majolica, stucco, slate, tufa, decorative mosaics and luxury inlays—so you can craft ornate villas, temples, piazzas and mosaic floors with high-quality tile, column and frieze textures. All blocks appear in the Construction creative tab and are obtainable in Survival via simple, vanilla-style shapeless crafting recipes unlocked by stone; they behave like ordinary stone blocks (place, pick block, mine) with stone-like durability, and slab and stair variants have been removed to keep a focused palette. This update adds eight new Tuscan-inspired full-cube designs—Tuscan Villa Stucco, Tuscan Terracotta Paver, Tuscan Honey Travertine, Tuscan Olive Grove Tile, Tuscan Farmhouse Stone, Tuscan Siena Marble, Tuscan Chianti Mosaic, and Tuscan Cypress Border—each with unique textures and survival recipes that blend seamlessly into the existing Mediterranean palette.

Mediterranean Masonry
Quickstart
- Install the
.mcaddonand open a world with the pack enabled. - In Creative mode, open the inventory and go to the Construction tab — all 160 Mediterranean blocks are listed there.
- In Survival mode, craft any block at a crafting table. The simplest starting recipe only needs Stone (the ordinary stone you smelt from cobblestone). Craft one Stone at a crafting table to unlock the first wave of blocks.
- Place blocks just like any vanilla stone block — right-click/tap to place, pick-block to copy, and mine with a pickaxe.
- To branch into richer materials, craft Italian Travertine (smooth stone + sandstone), Greek Limestone (stone + sandstone), or Bianco Venato Marble (calcite + quartz) first — many decorative variants are made from those as intermediate materials.
Overview
Mediterranean Masonry adds 160 full-cube decorative stone blocks inspired by classical Italian and Greek architecture. The palette covers travertine, marble, terrazzo, majolica tile, stucco plaster, slate, volcanic stone, tufa, ornate mosaics, luxury inlays, column and frieze blocks, and Tuscan-themed designs. Every block is a solid, placeable cube with stone-like hardness — no slab or stair variants exist, keeping the palette clean and focused. All blocks sit in the Construction creative tab and are available in Survival through shapeless crafting recipes at a crafting table.

How To Use
- Place any block like a vanilla stone block — face placement, rotation, and pick-block all work normally.
- Mine with a pickaxe to recover the block (standard stone-tier durability).
- Mix and match the palette freely. Column-type blocks (Roman Marble Pillar, Hellenic Column, Fluted Travertine) make convincing vertical shafts when stacked. Capital blocks (Roman Marble Capital, Ionic Capital Block) cap them naturally.
- Friezes and borders (Doric Frieze, Palmette Frieze, Meander Border Tile, Tuscan Cypress Border) work as horizontal accent bands between wall surfaces.
- Mosaic and inlay blocks make excellent floors, courtyards, and piazza centres.
- Plaster and stucco blocks are ideal for interior walls and painted facades.
Crafting And Obtaining
All recipes are crafted at a crafting table. Most are shapeless — just combine the listed ingredients in any arrangement. A few (column, brick, capital, and frieze blocks) use shaped recipes. No furnace or special equipment is needed.
Ingredient Tiers at a Glance
| Unlock path | Key vanilla ingredients needed |
|---|---|
| Basic stone-only blocks | Stone |
| Travertine line | Smooth Stone + Sandstone → Italian Travertine |

| Volcanic blocks | Basalt / Tuff + dye or orange dye / gold nugget |

Abilities And Mechanics
- All blocks are full-cube solid blocks — identical in shape and physics to vanilla stone. They have no special tile-entity behaviour, no light emission (unless the texture implies it), and no interaction beyond normal placement and breaking.
- Stone-like durability — a pickaxe is the appropriate tool. Unenchanted hands will be slow but will still eventually break them.
- No slab or stair variants — the mod deliberately offers only full cubes to keep the palette cohesive.
- Blocks behave correctly with pick-block (middle-click in Creative, or the equivalent touch control) so you can quickly copy a block you've already placed.
Progression And Strategy
Early Survival — start with a stone pickaxe and craft basic Stone to unlock the simplest single-ingredient blocks (Alpine Green Serpentine, Aosta Chalet Stone, Dolomite White Stone, Bologna Portico Brick, and many others). These need only one Stone in the crafting table.
Mid Survival — once you have smooth stone and sandstone readily available, open the Travertine and Greek Limestone lines. These two families unlock the majority of the carved, column, and inlay variants further up the chain.
Advanced palette — gather Calcite (found in marble cave biomes) and Nether Quartz to access the full marble spectrum (Bianco Venato → Carrara Honed, Calacatta Gold). Combine Polished Roman Marble with Copper Ingots for Bronze Inlaid Marble, or with Gold Nuggets for the gilded luxury blocks.
Mosaic and glass tier — bring Glass, gold nuggets, and coloured dyes to craft Byzantine Gold Mosaic, Ravenna Glass Mosaic, and Capri Sea Glass Tile — the most elaborate floor and wall pieces in the set.
Design tips
- Stack Roman Marble Pillar or Hellenic Column vertically, cap with Roman Marble Capital or Ionic Capital Block, and border with Doric Frieze or Palmette Frieze for authentic temple colonnades.
- Use Cosmatesque Inlay, Roman Mosaic Floor, or Laurel Wreath Mosaic as centrepiece medallions in piazza floors.
- Mix warm plasters (Pompeian Red Plaster, Tuscan Sun Plaster, Burano Pastel Plaster) for villa interiors and pair with Amalfi Blue Tile or Sicilian Majolica for kitchens and courtyards.
- The Tuscan collection — Villa Stucco, Honey Travertine, Farmhouse Stone, Olive Grove Tile — pairs naturally together for a unified Tuscan countryside aesthetic.
