Mace Damage Display

Quickstart

1. Get a Mace and hold it in either hand.
2. Look at the tooltip (hover over the item in your inventory/hotbar) — a gold line at the top now shows "Mace Damage vs Your Armor".
3. While holding the Mace in-game, glance at the bottom-center of your screen — the same damage number is displayed live above your hotbar whenever your GUI is visible.
4. Jump off a ledge, drink a Strength potion, or add Density to your Mace, and watch the number update in real time.

Overview

Mace Damage Display is a heads-up information tool for the Mace weapon. Normally, a Mace's smash attack damage depends on hidden factors like how far you've fallen, whether you have the Density enchantment, and any Strength effects active on you — making it hard to predict how hard your next smash attack will actually hit. This mod removes the guesswork by calculating and showing your current potential mace damage directly in the tooltip and on your screen, already adjusted for the target's armor.

What It Adds

• A live damage readout displayed above your hotbar whenever you are holding a Mace (in either hand) and your GUI is visible.
• A tooltip line on the Mace item itself showing the same calculated damage value.
• Automatic tracking of your fall distance while airborne, so the shown damage reflects the "smash" bonus you'd get if you landed and attacked right now.

How To Use

• Simply hold a Mace — no special item, block, or command is needed to activate the display.
• Check the number labeled "Mace Damage vs Your Armor":
  • It appears in the Mace's tooltip when you inspect the item.
  • It also appears in gold text near the bottom of your screen during normal gameplay while a Mace is equipped.
• Fall from a height while holding the Mace to see the smash bonus increase — the game remembers the highest fall distance reached during your current fall for the calculation.
• Drink a Strength potion to see the displayed damage rise accordingly.
• Equip a Mace enchanted with Density to see extra damage scale with your fall distance.
• The number already accounts for your own armor value, giving you a realistic estimate of what your smash attack would deal.

Abilities And Mechanics

The displayed damage combines several factors just like the real mace mechanic:

• Base damage — every Mace calculation starts from the weapon's base smash damage.
• Strength potion bonus — each level of Strength adds extra damage to the total.
• Fall/smash bonus — falling before attacking increases damage the further you've fallen; the mod continuously tracks your highest fall distance while airborne so the shown number reflects the best smash you could currently land.
• Density enchantment bonus — if your Mace has the Density enchantment, additional damage is added per enchantment level, scaled by how far you've fallen.
• Armor adjustment — the final number factors in your own armor value, giving a "damage vs your armor" estimate rather than a raw, unmitigated number.

This is purely an information display — it does not change how mace combat works, only how clearly its damage potential is shown to you.

Progression And Strategy

• Use the live readout to time your smash attacks: build up fall distance before striking to maximize damage, and watch the number climb as you fall further.
• Combine Strength potions with height for big spikes in potential damage — the display updates instantly so you can plan your attack window.
• If you're enchanting a Mace, equip it and check the tooltip or on-screen display to compare damage output with and without Density before committing enchanting resources.
• Great for testing loadouts in creative or survival before engaging in PvP or boss fights, since you can see your exact damage potential before ever swinging.
