Quickstart

Craft an Ironbound Mob Cage:

Hold the empty cage and right-click a living mob that isn’t riding another entity or carrying passengers. The mob is stored in the cage item; its tooltip shows what it contains. Place the filled cage with a clear 2×2×2 space around it to build the cage structure, then right-click any part of the structure to release the captive.

Overview

The Ironbound Mob Cage is a portable way to capture one mob, carry it in an item, and release it from a placed cage. Capturing removes the mob from the world until you place the filled cage.

How To Use

1. Capture: With an empty cage in hand, right-click an eligible mob. The cage holds one captive at a time.
2. Carry: Check the cage’s tooltip to see which mob it contains.
3. Place: Place the filled cage as you would a block. It forms a 2×2×2 structure, facing away from you. Keep the surrounding space clear so all parts can be placed.
4. Release: Right-click any part of the placed cage. The captive is freed, and its normal AI resumes.

Crafting And Obtaining

Craft the cage from iron bars, glass, and iron ingots using the recipe above.

Abilities And Mechanics

• Only living mobs without a vehicle or passengers can be captured.
• A filled cage can hold one mob. You can’t capture another mob with it until it is empty.
• On placement, a stored mob appears inside the cage with its AI paused. Interacting with the cage releases it.
