Mod Wiki
Immortal Plague Zombie
Quickstart
- Open your Creative inventory and find the Immortal Plague Zombie Spawn Egg in the Spawn Eggs tab.
- Right-click (or use the egg on) any block to summon the zombie into the world.
- Keep your distance at first — it hits hard, infects you with lingering effects, and can smash through doors and walls to get to you.
- Try to kill it: watch it "die" the first time and come back to life a short while later.
- You can also encounter this zombie naturally while exploring the Overworld, so be ready to fight one on sight.
Overview
The Immortal Plague Zombie is a hulking, disease-ridden undead brute — bigger, tougher, and far more dangerous than a normal zombie. It relentlessly hunts down players and other living creatures, tears through obstacles standing between it and its target, and shrugs off death itself the first time it's struck down. It also does not burn in sunlight, so it can hunt you at any hour.
What It Adds
- Immortal Plague Zombie — a large hostile mob that spawns naturally in Overworld biomes and can also be summoned with its spawn egg.
- Immortal Plague Zombie Spawn Egg — lets you place this mob anywhere in Creative Mode.
- A unique menacing appearance, larger size, and a distinct screaming roar sound when it charges.
How To Use
- Spawning it yourself: Use the spawn egg on any block to place the zombie directly in your world.
- Finding it in the wild: It spawns naturally on the surface in Overworld biomes, so you may run into one while exploring or building.
- Fighting it: Approach with caution — it deals heavy melee damage, has thick armor, and resists knockback, so simply hitting it and backing away won't be very effective. Ranged attacks or traps work better against its aggressive melee AI.
- Watch for obstacle breaking: If it's chasing a target and gets close enough, it will start smashing through doors and other blocks in its path, so walls and doors offer only temporary protection.
- After a fight: If you strike what looks like a killing blow, the zombie may collapse instead of dying outright, surrounded by smoke. It becomes invulnerable in this fallen state. Given time, it will rise again with renewed life — this can only happen once per zombie, so a second proper kill will finish it for good.
Crafting And Obtaining
This mod does not add any crafting recipes. The only way to obtain the mob is through its spawn egg (available in Creative inventory) or by encountering it naturally while exploring the Overworld.
Abilities And Mechanics
- Enhanced stats: Far higher health, attack damage, armor, and knockback resistance than a normal zombie, plus a longer detection range for targets.
- Sunlight immunity: It does not catch fire or take damage in daylight, so it remains a threat around the clock.
- Obstacle breaking: When actively chasing a nearby target, it will periodically break through blocks such as doors that stand in its way (this behavior depends on the world's mob griefing rules being enabled).
- Infectious attacks: Its melee hits inflict strong poison, heavy hunger, and weakness on whatever it strikes, making prolonged fights increasingly punishing.
- Feigned death and revival: The first time it would normally die, it instead falls into a dormant, invulnerable "dead" state accompanied by smoke particles and a death sound. After enough time passes, it stands back up at partial health and continues fighting. This revival only triggers once — a zombie that has already revived will die permanently the next time it's defeated.
- Self-preservation: When badly wounded and not actively engaged with a target, it may attempt to retreat and hide rather than continue fighting.
- Persistence: It never despawns on its own, so once it exists in the world it will remain a lasting threat until dealt with.
- Sound cues: Listen for its distinctive scream when it becomes aggressive — a good warning that it has spotted you.
Progression And Strategy
Because of its high health, armor, and damage output, this zombie is best treated as a mini-boss rather than a common enemy. Bring strong weapons or armor, use terrain and ranged attacks to your advantage, and remember that you may need to defeat it twice due to its one-time revival. Its infection effects stack up damage over time even after the fight ends, so consider bringing milk or healing items to clear poison and weakness afterward. Since it never despawns and can break through structures, avoid leaving one unattended near a base you care about.
