From Stone To Steel

Quickstart

1. Spawn in any world and look at the ground — small Rocks and fallen sticks spawn scattered across the surface. Right-click them to pick them up, or break them normally.
2. Collect a handful of Rocks. Open your crafting grid and combine 4 Rocks to make Cobble Rocks.
3. Find some Flint (from gravel) and craft a Flint Knife or Flint Axe — your first real tools.
4. Use the Flint Axe to chop wood (you need a Flint Axe or better to harvest logs).
5. Craft Wet Clay Bricks from clay balls, dry them in a furnace to get Dry Clay Bricks, then build a Clay Furnace to begin smelting.
6. Progress through Copper tools, then craft Raw Steel Ingots and smelt them into Super Steel Ingots to reach the top tiers.

Overview

From Stone To Steel replaces Minecraft's standard early game with a primitive-to-advanced progression. Instead of punching trees immediately, you start by gathering rocks and flint from the ground to craft your first tools. From there you work through a clay-based smelting station, a full Copper tier, a Super Steel tier, and finally the mighty Grand Diamond Steel tier — all before you ever touch Netherite.

• Clay Furnace — A primitive smelting block crafted from Dry Clay Bricks. Works like a furnace; faces outward when placed. Use it to smelt stone and progress early.

Abilities And Mechanics

• Wood harvesting requires a Flint Axe or better. You cannot chop logs with your bare hands or a regular tool.
• Obsidian can only be mined with a Super Steel Pickaxe or Grand Diamond Steel Pickaxe.
• Ancient Debris requires the Grand Diamond Steel Pickaxe — nothing else will work.
• The Clay Furnace behaves identically to a vanilla furnace and faces the direction you place it.

Grand Diamond Steel items are crafted by combining the matching Super Steel item with Diamonds, a Diamond Block, and Iron Ingots.

Progression And Strategy

1. Stone Age — Immediately scour the ground for Rocks and collect Flint from gravel. Craft a Flint Knife and Flint Axe before doing anything else. The Flint Axe is required to cut wood.

2. Clay Tier — Gather Clay Balls near rivers, craft Wet Clay Bricks, dry them in any furnace, and build your Clay Furnace. This gives you a dedicated primitive smelter for early stone-making.

3. Copper Tier — Mine copper ore normally and craft the full set of Copper tools and armor. Copper sits between Flint and Super Steel and gives you a real combat/mining kit.

4. Super Steel Tier — Craft Raw Steel Ingots (iron nuggets + coal blocks + iron ingot) and smelt them into Super Steel Ingots. Use these to forge a full Super Steel tool and armor set. The Super Steel Pickaxe unlocks Obsidian mining.

5. Grand Diamond Steel Tier — The pinnacle tier. Upgrade each Super Steel item individually by surrounding it with Diamonds, Diamond Blocks, and Iron Ingots. The Grand Diamond Steel Pickaxe is the only tool that can mine Ancient Debris, making Nether progression dependent on completing this tier first.
