Endless Trial Portals

Description

Endless Trials scatters decorative, color‑coded portals across the Overworld that whisk you into procedurally generated arena dungeons where waves of difficulty‑scaled henchmen spawn and a locked boss only awakens once the waves are defeated; arenas vary by color (green = small, blue = medium, purple = large, with red/black special challenges) and feature themed interiors, carpeted paths, pillars, banners and a throne scaled to the fight. Portals spawn automatically while at least one eligible non‑spectator Overworld player is online (only one global portal at a time), close after 1 minute if nobody enters, and after any spawn, close, destruction, or trial end the next automatic portal will not appear for at least 3 real‑time minutes plus a randomized delay; use /endlesstrials spawn <color> to attempt to create a portal (the command will refuse if one is already active) and /endlesstrials leave to exit a trial, with temporary arenas cleaned up after victory, failure, timeout, or leaving. Victory awards difficulty‑scaled loot (Green = starter rewards, Blue = upgraded gear, Purple = hard‑mode spoils, Red = elite nightmare‑tier loot, Black = extreme rewards), while dying fails the run, wipes your inventory and XP, and respawns you at the portal; additionally, bosses and henchmen now spawn safely on cleared floor space (boss lock positions moved away from throne blocks and spawn points clear a small area) to prevent immediate suffocation or clipping into decorations.

Endless Trial Portals

Quickstart

  1. Explore the Overworld — a color-coded Trial Portal will automatically appear near players after a few minutes. Walk into it to enter an arena dungeon.
  2. Survive waves of henchmen, then defeat the boss that awakens once all waves are cleared.
  3. Win to collect loot scaled to the portal's difficulty. Die and you lose your inventory and XP.
  4. To manually summon a portal, use the command: /endlesstrials spawn <color> (valid colors: green, blue, purple, red, black).
  5. To exit a trial early, type /endlesstrials leave.

Overview

Endless Trial Portals scatters glowing, color-coded portals across your Overworld. Each portal transports you into a procedurally generated arena dungeon themed to its color and difficulty. Inside, you fight through escalating waves of henchmen before a locked boss finally awakens for a climactic final battle. Arenas are fully decorated with carpeted paths, pillars, banners, and a throne — and are cleaned up automatically when the trial ends.

What It Adds

Five portal types serve as both world objects and difficulty tiers:

Each portal block also exists as a placeable item, obtainable from Creative inventory under the Functional Blocks tab or via commands.

How To Use

Finding and Entering a Portal

Portals appear automatically in the Overworld while at least one non-spectator player is present. Only one portal exists at a time globally. A portal stays open for 1 minute — if no one enters, it closes on its own. After any portal event (spawn, close, destruction, or trial end), at least 3 real-time minutes pass before the next one can appear.

Simply walk into a portal to be transported into its arena.

Inside the Arena

  • Waves of henchmen spawn sequentially. Clear every wave to unlock the boss.
  • The boss spawns away from throne decorations on clear floor space to avoid clipping.
  • You have a time limit. Failing to finish in time ends the trial.

Leaving Early

Use /endlesstrials leave at any time to exit. The arena is cleaned up automatically.

Manual Spawning

Operators or players with permission can run:

/endlesstrials spawn <color>

Replace <color> with green, blue, purple, red, or black. The command will refuse if a portal is already active somewhere in the world.

Abilities And Mechanics

Portal Lifecycle

  • Portals auto-spawn after a minimum 3-minute cooldown plus a random extra delay.
  • They expire after 1 minute if unoccupied.
  • Only one portal is active worldwide at any time.

Wave System

  • Henchmen spawn in waves; difficulty and count scale with the portal color.
  • The boss remains locked until all henchmen waves are defeated.
  • Black portals send 50 henchmen and feature powerful external bosses.

Death and Failure

  • Dying inside a trial fails the run immediately.
  • Your entire inventory and all XP are wiped.
  • You are respawned at the portal's Overworld location.
  • The arena is cleaned up after failure, timeout, or leaving.

Progression And Strategy

Work through the portal tiers in order for a natural difficulty curve:

TierPortalLoot
1GreenStarter rewards
2BlueUpgraded gear
3PurpleHard-mode spoils
4RedElite nightmare-tier loot
5BlackExtreme rewards

Tips:

  • Gear up thoroughly before attempting Red or Black portals — death wipes everything.
  • Keep an eye on chat or your surroundings; portals only last a minute unattended, so don't ignore one when it appears.
  • If you need a specific difficulty, use /endlesstrials spawn <color> rather than waiting for a random portal — but only when no other portal is currently active.
  • Bring consumables. There is a trial timeout, so extended attrition fights can end badly.
