Echo Shard Emerald Gear

Quickstart

1. Gather emeralds and craft your first piece of Emerald gear at a crafting table — the Emerald Sword is a good starting point.
2. Equip or hold your new gear and get used to it.
3. When you're ready to upgrade, craft the Emerald Cluster Block, then Emerald Locks, then the Echo Shard Upgrade.
4. Combine the upgrade + your emerald item + a vanilla Echo Shard at a crafting table to get the Echo Shard version.
5. Equip or hold any Echo Shard piece to permanently gain Fire Resistance, Speed, Resistance, and Strength.

Overview

Echo Shard Emerald Gear adds a two-tier progression on top of vanilla Minecraft. First you craft a full set of Emerald tools and armor using emeralds — a straightforward upgrade over diamond gear. Then, using deep-dark Echo Shards and special crafting components, you upgrade each piece into powerful Echo Shard gear that passively grants four status effects as long as you wear or hold it.

Abilities And Mechanics

Echo Shard Passive Effects

As long as you have at least one Echo Shard item equipped or held in your main hand, you continuously receive all four of the following effects:

The effects apply from any single piece of Echo Shard gear — you do not need a full set. This includes all four armor slots and any Echo Shard tool held in your main hand. The effects are hidden (no particles) and refresh automatically every two seconds so they never lapse while you are wearing the gear.

Repairing

• Emerald gear can be repaired using vanilla Emeralds in an anvil (each emerald restores 25% of max durability).
• Echo Shard gear can be repaired using vanilla Echo Shards in an anvil (each shard restores 35% of max durability).

Enchanting

All Emerald and Echo Shard armor and the Emerald/Echo Shard Sword and Pickaxe are enchantable. Echo Shard gear has a higher enchantability value than Emerald gear, making it more likely to receive better enchantments.

Progression And Strategy

1. Early upgrade — As soon as you have reliable emerald access (trading with villagers is the fastest route), craft the full Emerald armor set and your preferred tools. They are stronger than diamond in most categories.

2. Plan for the deep dark — Upgrading to Echo Shard tier requires vanilla Echo Shards, which are found in Ancient Cities. Gear up with your Emerald set before venturing in.

3. Upgrade order — The Emerald Cluster Block costs 9 Emerald Blocks (81 emeralds). Each Lock costs 4 emeralds + 1 iron ingot, and you need 8 per upgrade token. Prioritize the pieces you use most — even a single Echo Shard Chestplate in your armor slot is enough to trigger all four passive effects.

4. Full set payoff — A complete Echo Shard armor set plus an Echo Shard weapon gives you enormous staying power in any combat scenario: permanent fire immunity, extra speed for kiting, damage reduction on top of armor points, and bonus attack damage from Strength.

5. Maintaining gear — With 8,000 durability per piece, Echo Shard items last a very long time, but keep a stack of Echo Shards on hand for anvil repairs to preserve any enchantments you've applied.
