Description:
Dynamic Lantern Helmets brings hands-free and hands-on dynamic lighting to Bedrock. Instead of placing torches everywhere, you carry the light with you. Wearing a Lantern Helmet, holding a supported light item, or even dropping torches on the ground all produce real level-15 light that illuminates caves, mines, and dark overworld nights. Burning mobs nearby also flare up as temporary light sources, making encounters feel more dramatic and keeping your surroundings visible.
Seven new craftable Lantern Helmet variants, one for every armor tier:
| Helmet | Armor Points | Durability | Repair Material |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lantern Leather Helmet | 1 | 55 | Leather |
| Lantern Chainmail Helmet | 2 | 165 | Iron Ingot |
| Lantern Iron Helmet | 2 | 165 | Iron Ingot |
| Lantern Golden Helmet | 2 | 77 | Gold Ingot |
| Lantern Copper Helmet | 2 | 121 | Copper Ingot |
| Lantern Diamond Helmet | 3 | 363 | Diamond |
| Lantern Netherite Helmet | 3 | 407 | Netherite Ingot |
All helmets appear in the Equipment tab of the creative inventory under the Helmet group.
Simply equip any Lantern Helmet in your head armor slot. As long as it is worn, a level-15 light block follows your position and updates every few ticks, keeping you and your surroundings fully lit.
Carrying a torch, lantern, or other supported glowing item in either hand produces the same level-15 light. You do not need a Lantern Helmet for this to work.
To move a light item to your offhand without opening your inventory:
Any item whose tooltip reads "Can be equipped in the offhand." supports this gesture.
All Lantern Helmets are crafted at a Crafting Table using a shapeless recipe: the matching helmet + 1 Torch + 1 Leather. Recipes unlock automatically when you have the required materials.
Tip: Use an unenchanted base helmet if you want to preserve existing enchantments — the crafting process consumes the helmet you provide.

armor_head enchanting slot, so Respiration, Aqua Affinity, Protection, and other helmet enchantments apply normally.Early game — Craft a Lantern Leather Helmet as soon as you have leather, a torch, and a crafting table. It costs almost nothing and immediately eliminates the need to spam torches while mining.
Mid game — Upgrade to Lantern Iron or Lantern Chainmail for better protection without sacrificing your free-hands lighting. Keep a torch or lantern in your offhand as a backup when you switch helmets.
Late game — A Lantern Diamond or Lantern Netherite Helmet gives top-tier armor protection and permanent max-brightness light. Enchant it with Respiration and Protection just like a normal helmet. For nether exploration, the Netherite variant is fire-resistant and keeps you lit in the darkest fortresses.
Combat tip — Burning mobs create light on their own, so in dark encounters you naturally get brief flashes of illumination around enemies — use that visibility window to target them accurately.
