Crimson Stillwatcher

Quickstart

1. In Survival, look for the Crimson Stillwatcher either in dark underground parts of the Overworld below Y 48, or in a Crimson Forest biome in the Nether. In Creative, find its spawn egg and use it on the ground.
2. To gain its powers, remove all your armor and use the interact control on an unclaimed Stillwatcher. This binds it to you, removes the mob, and gives you three ability items. Don’t attack it first if you want to bond with it—it retaliates when hurt, and remains aggressive after you respawn.
3. Use an ability item with the usual Use control. While bonded, try jumping twice quickly to activate your wings; hold jump to rise.

Overview

Crimson Stillwatcher is a large, unsettling cave-dweller that can become part of the player rather than a conventional pet. Its aquamarine counterpart brings a second set of powers. Both Stillwatchers wander, speak, and retaliate if attacked.

What It Adds

• Crimson and Aquamarine Stillwatchers, each with a spawn egg.
• A bond that grants abilities, wings, and improved survivability.
• Six ability items and two kinds of temporary summoned allies.
• An Aquamarine Guardian, which can also be encountered or summoned.

How To Use

Interact with a Stillwatcher to bond with it. You must have no armor equipped for your first bond; the Stillwatcher then disappears and its three ability items are given to you. Bonding with the other color afterward lets you wield both sets of powers.

While bonded, jump twice in quick succession while airborne to activate winged lift. Holding jump provides upward lift; landing ends the flight. The attack control triggers a tentacle swipe when you’re empty-handed or holding a combat weapon. You can also sneak and interact with a nearby mob while empty-handed to grab it; attack to slam a grabbed target or interact again to release it.

Crafting And Obtaining

There are no crafting recipes for the mod’s ability items. Bond with a Stillwatcher to receive its ability set, or use the spawn eggs available in Creative.

The Crimson Stillwatcher spawns near the player in a Crimson Forest in the Nether when enough entities have been killed by the player. The Aquamarine Stillwatcher may appear near a player who takes drowning damage in a dim underwater cave.

When killed by a player, a Crimson Stillwatcher drops 1–3 Rotten Flesh and may also drop Black Dye or Redstone. The Aquamarine Stillwatcher has no item drops.

Abilities And Mechanics

Use each ability item with the usual Use control. Grasp and Call abilities have a 12-second cooldown; Lances have a 3-second cooldown.

A bond also boosts your health and resistance; it grants extra strength at night. The Stillwatcher itself is dangerous to fight: it has 120 health and can deal 36 damage with a hit.

Progression And Strategy

• Decide whether to fight or bond before approaching. A first bond requires removing your armor and consumes the Stillwatcher.
• If you want both power sets, bond with the opposite-color Stillwatcher after your first bond.
• In a Crimson Forest, defeating 30 mobs can draw a Crimson Stillwatcher nearby if one isn’t already close.
• For the Aquamarine variant, watch for it in dim underwater caves—especially if you’re taking drowning damage.
