Blackstorm Greatsword

Quickstart

1. Craft the Greatsword using the recipe below, or find it in the Combat creative tab.
2. Hold it in your main hand and start attacking enemies with left-click.
3. Watch the tooltip — it shows your swing count (e.g. Swings: 12/50).
4. After 50 swings, the blade glows and the tooltip reads ✦ SPECIAL READY - Press R ✦.
5. Press R to unleash the Blackstorm Whirlwind and obliterate everything nearby.

Overview

The Blackstorm Greatsword is a heavy, slow, two-handed blade forged from netherite and dark materials. It hits hard, launches enemies with extreme knockback, and builds up a devastating charge over time. Once charged, a single keystroke triggers a 360-degree whirlwind strike that can wipe out entire groups of enemies at once. It supports all standard weapon enchantments and consumes durability like any other weapon.

What It Adds

A single powerful weapon item: the Blackstorm Greatsword. It appears in the Combat creative tab and can be crafted in survival. It has no variants — just one blade with a unique charge mechanic.

How To Use

Normal Attacks

Left-click to swing as you would any sword. The Greatsword hits harder than a netherite sword but swings very slowly due to its massive weight. Each swing also applies a strong knockback shove to the target, scaled further by the Knockback enchantment.

Building Charge

Every swing — whether it connects or misses — counts toward your charge. The tooltip on the sword tracks your progress:

• Charging: Swings: X/50 (gray text)
• Fully charged: ✦ SPECIAL READY - Press R ✦ (gold text), and the sword gains an enchantment glint

The Whirlwind Special (R)

When the charge is full, press R (the Blackstorm Whirlwind keybind) to activate the special attack:

• Your character performs a spinning animation with a visible slashing trail of sweep and enchanted particles.
• All living entities within ~5 blocks are hit simultaneously for heavy damage (~3× your base swing damage).
• Every target is launched outward with massive knockback.
• The charge resets to zero afterward, and you must rebuild it with 50 more swings.

Note: The R keybind can be rebound in Options → Controls → Blackstorm Greatsword.

Abilities And Mechanics

Enchantment Synergy

All weapon enchantments affect both normal swings and the Whirlwind special:

• Sharpness increases Whirlwind damage.
• Knockback amplifies the outward launch of every enemy hit by the whirlwind.
• Fire Aspect and other on-hit effects trigger on each target struck by the whirlwind.

Crafting And Obtaining

The recipe is granted automatically when you join a world, so it will appear in your recipe book. It requires high-tier materials befitting its power:

Ingredients: Netherite Ingots, Obsidian, and Blaze Rods.

Progression And Strategy

• Early investment: The Greatsword requires netherite, so it is a late-game weapon. Gather blaze rods from the Nether and obsidian along the way.
• Enchant before charging: Apply Sharpness and Knockback at an enchanting table or anvil before you start building your charge — the whirlwind immediately inherits those bonuses.
• Mob farms and dungeons: The 5-block AoE Whirlwind is exceptionally effective against groups. Lure enemies together, build charge on the first few, then unleash it.
• Boss fights: The whirlwind's triple damage and extreme knockback can interrupt or reposition dangerous enemies. Time it after a burst of normal hits.
• Durability: The Whirlwind hits many targets at once, consuming durability accordingly. Keep Mending or spare Unbreaking levels on the sword for extended fights.
