Blackhorn Ravager

Quickstart

1. Find a Blackhorn Ravager in the Overworld, often near pillager camps, or obtain its spawn egg from the Creative inventory.
2. Make sure the ravager has no passenger. Deal with any rider before attempting to tame it.
3. Hold a Golden Apple and use it on the untamed ravager. The apple is consumed in Survival, and heart particles show that taming succeeded.
4. After taming, use the ravager again as its owner to mount it.
5. Ride it into battle using your normal movement controls. Dismount with the usual sneak/dismount key.

You can also summon one with:

Or give yourself its spawn egg with:

Overview

The Blackhorn Ravager is a powerful, tameable ravager that can become a personal mount and combat companion. Untamed ravagers are hostile, but a player can claim one with a Golden Apple.

Once tamed, it remembers its owner, follows them when not being ridden, and helps defend them from attackers.

How To Use

Finding or Spawning One

Blackhorn Ravagers can spawn naturally in the Overworld. Pillager camps are a good place to search for one.

In Creative mode, use the Blackhorn Ravager spawn egg. For command use, its entity ID is:

Taming

An untamed Blackhorn Ravager can be tamed with a Golden Apple:

1. Ensure the ravager has no passenger.
2. Hold a Golden Apple.
3. Use the Golden Apple on the ravager.
4. Wait for the heart particles confirming that it is tamed.

A successful taming makes the player who used the apple the ravager’s owner. Taming also clears its current hostile target.

Mounting

Only the owner can mount a tamed Blackhorn Ravager. Use the ravager while it has no passenger to start riding.

Other players cannot claim the mount simply by using it. The owner also cannot directly damage their own tamed ravager.

Riding

The mounted player controls the ravager’s direction and movement. The ravager follows the rider’s facing direction and can be steered with the normal movement controls.

Use the standard sneak or dismount control to leave the mount.

Abilities And Mechanics

Combat

The Blackhorn Ravager is built for close-quarters combat.

• Health: 120
• Attack damage: 12
• Knockback resistance: 75%
• Movement speed: 0.3
• Follow range: 32 blocks

When tamed, it attacks creatures that attack it and can defend its owner against recent attackers. It will not target or damage its owner.

Following

When not being ridden, a tamed Blackhorn Ravager follows its owner. It moves toward the owner when separated and stops when it is close, provided it is not busy fighting a target.

Persistence

Tamed Blackhorn Ravagers do not naturally despawn. Their ownership and tamed state are preserved when the world is saved.

Crafting And Obtaining

There are no crafting recipes for the Blackhorn Ravager or its spawn egg.

Obtain one by:

• Finding a naturally spawned Blackhorn Ravager in the Overworld
• Using the Blackhorn Ravager spawn egg in Creative mode
• Summoning it with its entity ID
• Taming it with one Golden Apple

Progression And Strategy

• Bring Golden Apples when searching for a ravager so you can tame a suitable one immediately.
• Check for passengers before attempting to tame it; an occupied ravager cannot be tamed.
• Tame the ravager before taking it into a dangerous fight so it recognizes you as its owner.
• Let it fight attackers while you stay mounted or support it from the ground.
• Keep the ravager close when travelling on foot, since it follows its owner when left behind.
• Avoid fighting your own mount with area attacks or environmental hazards, even though direct attacks from its owner are prevented.
