Amethyst Thunderstone

Quickstart

1. Obtain an Amethyst Thunderstone from the Combat tab of the Creative inventory, or craft one using the recipe below.
2. Place it in your hotbar and hold it.
3. Aim at a solid block within 32 blocks.
4. Use the item—right-click by default—to summon lightning at the targeted block.
5. Wait 30 seconds before using it again.

Overview

The Amethyst Thunderstone is a single-use-per-cooldown ranged lightning item. It does not need ammunition and is not consumed when activated. Use it to call down a lightning bolt at a distant point without traveling there yourself.

  • Summons a normal lightning bolt at the traced target location.
  • Has a 30-second cooldown after a successful activation.

How To Use

Hold the Amethyst Thunderstone in either hand and aim at a solid block. Use the item to trace a line from your view toward the target. If the target is within range, lightning is summoned at the block location reached by the trace.

The item checks solid block collisions and ignores fluids when determining the target. For dependable results, aim directly at a visible block rather than empty space.

Crafting And Obtaining

Craft the Amethyst Thunderstone with:

• 1 copper ingot
• 2 amethyst shards
• 1 glowstone dust
• 1 lightning rod

The item is also available directly in the Combat tab of the Creative inventory.

Abilities And Mechanics

• The item has a maximum targeting range of 32 blocks.
• It summons lightning from a distance rather than launching a visible projectile.
• Activating it starts a 30-second cooldown.
• Using the item during its cooldown does not summon another lightning bolt.
• The item remains in your inventory after use.

Progression And Strategy

Gather copper, amethyst, glowstone, and a lightning rod before crafting the Thunderstone. Since it has a long cooldown, use it deliberately for important targets or demonstrations, then keep the item ready while the cooldown expires. Aim at clear, solid surfaces to make sure the lightning lands where intended.
