Amethyst Fang Staff

Quickstart

1. Open your crafting table — the recipe is unlocked automatically when you join the world.
2. Craft the Amethyst Fang Staff (see recipe below).
3. Hold it in your hand, aim at an enemy or open ground, and right-click to unleash a line of five evoker fangs erupting from the ground directly in front of you.
4. Wait 2 seconds for the cooldown to expire, then strike again.

Overview

The Amethyst Fang Staff is a magical melee-range weapon that channels the power of evoker fangs. Instead of swinging a blade, you point the staff and call forth a cascade of biting fangs that burst up from the earth in a straight line, damaging anything caught in their path. It fits naturally in the Combat creative tab alongside other weapons.

What It Adds

How To Use

• Right-click (use) while holding the staff to activate it.
• Five evoker fangs erupt one block apart in a straight line extending up to 5 blocks directly ahead of you, following your horizontal facing direction.
• The fangs deal damage to any entity they hit, identical to the fangs summoned by an Evoker.
• Each fang spawns with a slight delay after the previous one, creating a satisfying cascading sequence.
• A custom sound plays on activation.
• After firing, the staff enters a 2-second cooldown. The cooldown indicator appears on the item in your hotbar just like other cooldown items (e.g., Ender Pearls).

Abilities And Mechanics

Terrain-Smart Fangs The staff searches for solid ground at each fang position before spawning it. It checks a few blocks up and down from your current elevation, so the fangs reliably land on the surface even when you are standing on hills, stairs, or any uneven terrain — they won't float in the air or sink underground.

Horizontal Targeting The line of fangs always travels horizontally in the direction you are facing, regardless of whether you are looking up or down. Aim by turning your character, not by pitching your view.

Damage Source The fangs are attributed to you as their owner, so any kills or damage dealt by them count as your attacks — useful for looting enchantments and experience drops.

Progression And Strategy

• Early game viable: The only materials needed are two Amethyst Shards and one Stick, making this one of the earliest magic weapons you can craft.
• Area denial: The 5-block line punishes enemies approaching in a corridor or narrow space. Position yourself so the line runs through a mob's path.
• Cooldown management: The 2-second cooldown encourages timing — fire, reposition, fire again. Pairing the staff with a fast melee weapon lets you fill the cooldown gap without losing DPS.
• Uneven terrain: Don't be afraid to use the staff on slopes or inside caves; the terrain-detection system keeps the fangs grounded and effective.
