Zombie Sniffer

Quickstart

1. Open your Creative inventory (or use /give) and find the Zombie Sniffer spawn egg in the Spawn Eggs tab.
2. Use the egg on any block to spawn a Zombie Sniffer, or simply explore the Overworld — it spawns naturally alongside other hostile mobs.
3. Keep your distance when you spot one: it's fast, hits hard, and will chase you down.
4. If you're in danger, retreat into shade or shelter — like a regular zombie, it burns in direct sunlight.

Overview

The Zombie Sniffer is a hostile mob that looks like the friendly, digging Sniffer but behaves nothing like it. Instead of sniffing out ancient seeds, this undead variant is aggressive toward players, actively hunting and attacking on sight. It combines the imposing size of a Sniffer with the relentless hostility of a zombie.

What It Adds

• Zombie Sniffer — a large hostile mob that spawns naturally throughout the Overworld.
• Zombie Sniffer Spawn Egg — found in the Spawn Eggs section of the Creative inventory, used to summon the mob on demand.

How To Use

• Spawning naturally: Zombie Sniffers spawn in Overworld biomes alongside other monsters, so you may encounter one during normal exploration, especially at night or in dark areas.
• Spawning manually: Use the Zombie Sniffer spawn egg on a block or entity to place one directly into the world.
• Combat: It will target and chase any nearby player, swimming across water if needed to reach you, and attacking with melee strikes. It's tougher and hits harder than a typical zombie, so approach with better gear or ranged weapons.
• Sunlight weakness: Like ordinary zombies, it catches fire when exposed to direct sunlight and isn't in water, so daytime combat in open areas favors the player.

Crafting And Obtaining

The Zombie Sniffer has no crafting recipes. It is obtained by:

• Encountering one during natural Overworld spawns, or
• Spawning it directly with its spawn egg in Creative mode.

Abilities And Mechanics

• Aggressive AI: Unlike the peaceful vanilla Sniffer, this mob actively seeks out and attacks players, and will retaliate against anything that hurts it.
• High health and damage: It survives longer and deals more damage than a standard zombie, making it a genuine threat in open combat.
• Fast and far-ranging: It moves quickly and can notice and chase players from a long distance.
• Water crossing: It can swim, so bodies of water won't stop its pursuit.
• Sunlight burn: Direct sunlight sets it on fire unless it's standing in water, giving players a tactical way to deal with it during the day.

Progression And Strategy

Treat the Zombie Sniffer as a dangerous roaming threat rather than a passive curiosity. Its large size and unusual appearance can make it easy to underestimate, but its stats put it well above a normal zombie. Use daylight and open sky to your advantage — luring it into sunlight will set it ablaze — or fight it with ranged weapons and armor if you must engage at night or indoors. Since it hunts by sight and distance, staying aware of your surroundings while exploring is the best way to avoid being ambushed.
