Quickstart

1. Craft the Winter's Bite Cutlass using the recipe below.
2. Equip it in your mainhand.
3. Sneak-attack, hold, or trigger your abilities (Frost Lunge, Subzero, Ice Age) to freeze and control the battlefield.
4. Watch the action bar for cooldown timers before reusing an ability.
5. Keep water buckets on hand near the sword's wielder — Subzero will freeze them into ice automatically.

Winter's Bite adds a single legendary weapon — the Winter's Bite Cutlass — a frost-themed sword built for players who want to control fights with area freezing effects rather than raw damage alone. It combines a solid melee weapon with three distinct ice-based abilities, each with its own cooldown and range, turning any fight into an opportunity to freeze, immobilize, and finish off enemies.

Crafting And Obtaining

The Winter's Bite Cutlass is crafted at a crafting table using rare materials — Nether Stars, Netherite, blue ice, and a blaze rod — reflecting both its frost theme and its powerful abilities:

Because of its ingredient cost, treat the Cutlass as an end-game weapon meant to reward players who have progressed through the Nether and defeated the Wither.

Abilities And Mechanics

Hold the Winter's Bite Cutlass in your mainhand to access its abilities. Each ability has its own cooldown, shown on your action bar when you try to use it early.

Freezing immobilizes and damages affected entities over time. Enemies hit repeatedly by the Cutlass build up Frostbite stacks, which intensify the frost effect the more you land hits before the stacks reset.

While frozen, non-player enemies get locked in place at their current location, making Winter's Bite especially effective for crowd control against groups of mobs or in PvP skirmishes.

Progression And Strategy

• Use Frost Lunge as your bread-and-butter opener thanks to its short cooldown — great for isolating a single target or escaping danger.
• Save Subzero for when you're surrounded, since it hits everything in a generous radius and also lets you convert water buckets into ice on the spot.
• Reserve Ice Age for large groups or dangerous late-game encounters — its huge radius can freeze an entire battlefield, but its long cooldown means timing matters.
• Chain hits with the Cutlass to build Frostbite stacks on tough enemies, maximizing frost damage before it resets.
• Repair the Cutlass with diamonds to keep it battle-ready, since its durability is consumed steadily during combat.
