Description
Make me a mod where there's a bunch of new passive, hostile, and neutral mobs that can spawn in the world. Make it so you can tame the passive and the neutral ones and breed them if you want to. And they can have different variants when you spawn in or breed them. Also, certain ones have special abilities that you can use, like item pickup or storage, and other stuff like that.

Wildborn Companions
Quickstart
- Find wild mobs in the biomes described in What It Adds, or use a spawn egg from the Creative inventory.
- Hold the right food and use it on a mob to tame it. Start with wheat or a hay block for a Mossback Grazer, a carrot for a Thistle Hopper, or berries for an Emberfox.
- Try the Packhorn: tame it by feeding it wheat or hay blocks and mounting it until it accepts you. Once tamed, give it a chest for storage.
- Use an empty bucket on an adult Mossback Grazer to collect milk.
With cheats enabled, you can summon a mob with a command such as /summon com_wildborn_companions_ybwq3qm5:emberfox. Replace emberfox with mossback_grazer, thistle_hopper, packhorn, or shadeweaver to summon another type. Use the interact button to feed, tame, milk, mount, or equip a mob as described below.
Overview
Wildborn Companions introduces five animals and creatures, each with its own behavior, taming or breeding options, and visual variations. Some are easy to keep around; others are a danger in the dark.
What It Adds
| Mob | Where to find it | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| Mossback Grazer | Daylit grass-block surfaces in animal-spawning areas | A passive grazer that can be tamed, bred, and milked. |
| Thistle Hopper | Daylit grassy, snowy, or sandy surfaces in places such as taiga, deserts, groves, meadows, and snowy areas | A small, skittish animal that flees from players and can raid carrot gardens. |
| Emberfox | Daylit surfaces in taiga and grove biomes | A wary fox that hunts small animals and picks up loose items. |
| Packhorn | Daylit grass blocks in savanna and extreme-hills areas | A llama-like animal that can be ridden and, once tamed, carry a chest. |
| Shadeweaver | Dark surface or underground areas in monster-spawning biomes | A spider-like threat that becomes hostile in low light. |
How To Use
Taming and keeping companions
Use the listed food on a wild mob to tame it. Tamed Mossback Grazers, Thistle Hoppers, and Emberfoxes follow their owner.
- Mossback Grazer: Use wheat or a hay block to tame it. It can also be bred with wheat, even if it is untamed.
- Thistle Hopper: Use a carrot, golden carrot, or dandelion to tame it. These same foods can be used to breed it.
- Emberfox: Use sweet berries or glow berries to tame it. Tamed Emberfoxes can be bred with sweet berries.
- Packhorn: Feed it wheat or hay blocks to raise its temper, then mount it until it is tamed. Tamed Packhorns can be bred with hay blocks.
Use an empty bucket on an adult Mossback Grazer to milk it.
Packhorn storage and riding
A tamed Packhorn can be ridden. Use a chest on it to add storage, then interact with it to access its inventory. Its carrying capacity varies; stronger Packhorns have more storage slots. You can also equip a carpet for decoration.
Emberfox item pickup
Emberfoxes can pick up nearby loose items and carry one at a time. Watch one forage, or leave a loose item nearby and see what it picks up.
Shadeweaver light behavior
Shadeweavers are neutral in brighter conditions but become hostile in low light. Avoid provoking one, and be prepared for it to attack in darkness.
Variants and Breeding
Mobs can have different appearances. Emberfoxes, Mossback Grazers, Thistle Hoppers, and Shadeweavers receive varied coats; Thistle Hopper coats include brown, white, black, splotched, desert, and salt appearances. Packhorns also vary in appearance. Offspring may have a different look from their parents.
To breed a pair, use their breeding food on both adults and let them approach each other. Mossback Grazers and Thistle Hoppers can breed while untamed; Emberfoxes and Packhorns must be tamed first.
Crafting and Obtaining
These mobs have no crafting recipes. Find them in the world, use their spawn eggs from the Creative inventory, or summon them with commands.
