Whispering Rift Stalker

Quickstart

1. Craft a Whispering Sigil using obsidian, amethyst shards, and an eye of ender:

1. Use the sigil to enter The Hollow. It places landmarks near your arrival and brings a Rift Stalker into the area if one is not already nearby.
2. Explore, but be ready to fight or flee: the Stalker is fast and its attacks briefly inflict Darkness and Nausea.
3. If you defeat it, a player-caused kill drops 1–2 Echo Shards. Use a shard inside The Hollow to return to the Overworld. The shard is consumed outside Creative mode.
4. To try the Stalker without entering the dimension, use a Rift Stalker Spawn Egg on a block in Creative mode.

Overview

Whispering Rift Stalker centers on trips between the Overworld and the haunted dimension The Hollow. The Whispering Sigil opens the way in either direction; landmarks give you places to explore, while the Rift Stalker makes the Hollow dangerous.

What It Adds

• The Hollow: A dimension reached with the Whispering Sigil.
• Hollow Watch and Mourners' Beacon: Landmarks placed as you travel between worlds.
• Rift Stalker: A hostile creature that hunts players and whispers to those nearby.
• Whispering Sigil, Echo Shard, and Rift Stalker Spawn Egg.

How To Use

Use the Whispering Sigil to travel between the Overworld and The Hollow. It is reusable, has a brief cooldown, and does not need to be placed as a block. On a trip into The Hollow, the sigil places a Hollow Watch near your arrival and a Mourners' Beacon near the Overworld spawn. Returning with the sigil also places a beacon near the Overworld spawn.

An Echo Shard only works inside The Hollow. Using one sends you to the Overworld spawn and places a Mourners' Beacon nearby. Outside The Hollow, the shard does not activate.

Crafting And Obtaining

The Whispering Sigil recipe uses 2 obsidian, 2 amethyst shards, and 1 eye of ender. The recipe above shows the full crafting layout.

Player-caused kills of the Rift Stalker can drop 1–2 Echo Shards. The Rift Stalker Spawn Egg is available in the Creative inventory.

Abilities And Mechanics

The Rift Stalker is a quick, hostile melee attacker. It has 42 health and deals 8 damage per hit. Hitting a player briefly causes Darkness and Nausea; nearby players may also receive occasional whispers.

Progression And Strategy

Take the Whispering Sigil with you when entering The Hollow, and keep an Echo Shard as an alternate way back if you earn one. The Stalker can close distance quickly, so watch for it while exploring landmarks. Defeating it can provide a shard for your return trip.
