Whispering Rift Stalker

Quickstart

1. Craft a Whispering Sigil with two obsidian, two amethyst shards, and one ender eye:

1. Use the sigil to travel between the Overworld and The Hollow. On your first trip into The Hollow, expect a Rift Stalker nearby.
2. Use the sigil again to return. If you find an Echo Shard in The Hollow, using it there also takes you back to the Overworld—but the shard is consumed unless you are in Creative mode.
3. To try the monster without entering The Hollow, find the Rift Stalker Spawn Egg in the Spawn Eggs tab in Creative mode and use it on a block.

Overview

The Hollow is a haunted dimension with two eerie landmarks: the Hollow Watch and Mourner’s Beacon. The Rift Stalker is a fast, hostile hunter that pursues players and whispers when nearby. The Whispering Sigil provides a repeatable way in and out.

How To Use

Travel with the Whispering Sigil

Use the sigil in either dimension to travel to the other. It is not consumed and has a short cooldown. When entering The Hollow, the sigil places landmarks and makes sure a Rift Stalker is nearby if one is not already close. When returning to the Overworld, it places a Mourner’s Beacon near the Overworld spawn.

Escape with an Echo Shard

Use an Echo Shard while in The Hollow to return to the Overworld spawn. The shard does not work outside The Hollow. It is consumed on use unless you are in Creative mode.

Spawn a Rift Stalker

In Creative mode, use the Rift Stalker Spawn Egg on a block. The Stalker is hostile, so keep your distance if you are not ready to fight.

Crafting And Obtaining

The Whispering Sigil is crafted from obsidian, amethyst shards, and an ender eye. Echo Shards are dropped when a Rift Stalker is killed by a player: each such kill drops one or two.

Abilities And Mechanics

• Fast pursuit: The Rift Stalker targets players and attacks at close range.
• Disorienting hit: A successful attack inflicts Darkness for about 3 seconds and Nausea for about 2.5 seconds.
• Whispers: When a non-Creative, non-Spectator player is within 24 blocks, the Stalker may send eerie messages. Its attack may also trigger an additional whisper.
• Durability: The Stalker has 42 health and resists some knockback. Plan for a tough fight rather than relying on a quick hit.

Progression And Strategy

• Bring the Whispering Sigil before entering The Hollow so you can travel back without relying on a shard.
• Watch for the Stalker as soon as you arrive; it may already be close and ready to pursue.
• If you defeat one, keep its Echo Shard as an emergency return route.
• Use landmarks to orient yourself, and avoid letting the Stalker close the distance—its attacks can briefly impair your vision and movement.
