Quickstart

1. Gather crying obsidian, Eyes of Ender, and a stick.
2. Craft the Walking Bridge at a crafting table:

1. Hold the Walking Bridge in your main hand.
2. Walk off any ledge or over a gap — the tool instantly lays a crying obsidian path beneath your feet, keeping you from falling.
3. Return to solid ground or switch the tool out of your main hand to retract the bridge automatically.

Overview

The Walking Bridge is a rare, enchant-glinting handheld engineering tool. Equip it and walk with confidence across chasms, ravines, and voids — the tool conjures a flat 1×1×5 crying obsidian walkway in front of you the moment you step off a ledge, and quietly removes it once you no longer need it.

How To Use

Activating the Bridge

Hold the Walking Bridge in your main hand. No button press or right-click is needed. The tool monitors your position every tick. The moment you step off solid ground into open air:

• A flat row of crying obsidian blocks is placed under and ahead of you.
• The walkway is always 5 blocks long, centered on your position, and oriented to match the direction you are facing.
• The bridge stays locked to the Y level where you stepped off — it does not slope or follow you vertically.

What the Bridge Will Not Do

• It will never overwrite or destroy blocks that were already in the world — only its own crying obsidian bridge blocks are placed or removed.
• It does not function when held in the off-hand or in inventory.

• Automatic placement and retraction — fully hands-free once equipped; no interaction required.
• Safe for your world — the bridge only manages its own blocks and ignores everything else.
• Per-player tracking — multiple players can each use their own Walking Bridge at the same time without interference.

Progression And Strategy

Durability & Repair The Walking Bridge has 1,561 durability. It loses one point of durability each time it places a block. Repair it at an anvil using crying obsidian (each piece restores 390 durability). It can also be enchanted via the pickaxe enchanting slot, so Unbreaking and Mending are valuable investments for long expeditions.

Tips

• Use the Walking Bridge when crossing large ravines, navigating the Nether, or bridging across ocean gaps — anywhere solid footing is scarce.
• Because the bridge locks to your step-off Y level, approach gaps at the height you want to cross, not from below.
• The bridge stops if it detects solid terrain ahead, so it is safe to use near cliff faces without worrying about unwanted block placement.
• Keep a supply of crying obsidian on hand for repairs during extended exploration sessions.
