Description:
.mcaddon and enable both the behavior and resource packs for your world. The Vintner Guardian is a hulking, Warden-like mob clad in ornate armor stained with wine, evoking the look of an ancient Italian Mafia sentinel. Unlike the Warden, it is entirely docile toward players — it will never attack you even if you strike it. Instead, it acts as a loyal, tameable bodyguard that defends you from hostile mobs. It is massive, eerily vocal, and extraordinarily tough.
| Feature | Details |
|---|---|
| New mob | Vintner Guardian — a large, armored, Warden-like creature |
| Spawn locations | Plains, Sunflower Plains, Meadow, Cherry Grove, Village biomes |
| Spawn conditions | Surface, light level 7+, any difficulty; always spawns alone |
| Health | 500 HP |
| Melee damage | 30 per hit |
| Knockback resistance | Complete — cannot be knocked back |
Hand the Vintner Guardian a Potion of Strength to tame it instantly. It will not resist — taming is guaranteed. Once tamed, it becomes your personal guardian.
You can leash the Vintner Guardian with a lead at any time, tamed or not. Tie it to a fence post to station it as a permanent base guardian.
The Vintner Guardian only attacks mobs that harm you, its owner. It will not initiate combat on its own and will never hurt players under any circumstances. When defending you it hits for 30 damage per strike and cannot be staggered by knockback.
The Vintner Guardian emits two distinct sounds:
With 500 HP and complete knockback immunity, the Vintner Guardian is nearly impossible to kill in normal gameplay. It can path over water and lava, climb obstacles, and survive enormous falls (up to 20 blocks before pathfinding recalculates).
Like the Warden, it has a visible heartbeat pulse effect on its body.
When killed, the Vintner Guardian drops from several loot pools:
| Drop | Notes |
|---|---|
| Potion (wine-themed) | Always drops 1–3 |
| Iron Nuggets (4–10) | Common armor scrap drop |
| Gold Nuggets (2–6) | Less common armor scrap drop |
| Iron Ingot (1–2) | Uncommon armor scrap drop |
| Bone (1–3) | Always drops |
| Lead (1–2) | ~20% chance |
| Chainmail Chestplate (damaged) | ~10% chance, player-kill only |
| Sculk Catalyst | ~6.25% chance, player-kill only |
| Emerald (1–3) | Very rare (~5%), player-kill only; improved by Looting |
| XP | 5 XP, player-kill only |
Tip: Use a Looting-enchanted sword to improve your chances at emeralds, gold nuggets, and iron drops.
