Description
A flying gold-and-green vindicator boss hunts players and villagers with eerie vex-like screeches.
Mod Wiki
Vinikinger
Quickstart
- Open your Creative inventory and search for Vinikinger to find its spawn egg (found in the Spawn Eggs group).
- Use the spawn egg on any block to summon the Vinikinger boss.
- In Survival worlds, keep an eye out — it can also spawn naturally on its own in Overworld biomes.
- Stay alert: once it notices you or a nearby villager, it will fly straight at its target and attack. Bring strong weapons and armor before engaging.
Overview
Vinikinger is a boss-tier variant of the vindicator, recolored in gold and green and given the power of flight. It relentlessly hunts down players and villagers, closing the distance through the air and striking with heavy melee blows, all while letting out eerie, vex-like screeches instead of the usual vindicator grunts.
What It Adds
- Vinikinger — a flying illager boss that actively targets and chases both players and villagers.
- Vinikinger Spawn Egg — lets you summon the boss on demand in Creative or Survival mode.
- Natural spawning in Overworld biomes, so it can appear as a surprise threat even without using the spawn egg.
How To Use
- Spawning it yourself: Use the Vinikinger spawn egg on the ground or a block to summon it directly.
- Encountering it naturally: Vinikinger can spawn on its own in Overworld terrain, so be cautious when exploring — it may already be airborne and hunting nearby.
- Combat: Once it locks onto a target (a player or a villager), it flies toward them relentlessly, hovering just above its victim before diving in to attack. It doesn't need to walk around obstacles like normal mobs, since it ignores gravity and flies freely.
- Sound cues: Listen for vex-like screeching sounds — this is how Vinikinger announces its presence, gets hurt, and dies, distinguishing it from a normal vindicator's grunts.
Abilities And Mechanics
- Flight: Vinikinger ignores gravity entirely and hovers/flies toward its target, bobbing gently up and down while airborne.
- Aggressive targeting: It actively seeks out and attacks both players and villagers, making it a threat to unprotected settlements as well as adventurers.
- Heavy combat stats: It hits much harder and survives longer than a normal vindicator, with substantially boosted health, attack damage, armor, and knockback resistance.
- Fast pursuit: Above-average movement and flying speed combined with a long detection range mean it will notice and chase targets from far away and close the gap quickly.
- Unaffected by daylight: It doesn't suffer any daylight-related penalties, so it remains just as dangerous during the day as at night.
- Experience reward: Defeating it grants a solid chunk of experience, reflecting its status as a boss-level threat.
Progression And Strategy
Treat Vinikinger as a mini-boss encounter rather than a common enemy. Its high health, armor, and knockback resistance mean it can shrug off weak weapons and won't be easily staggered, so bring enchanted gear, ranged options, or allies before confronting it. Because it also targets villagers, consider defending or evacuating villages if one is spotted nearby. Its screeching ambient sound can serve as an early warning that a fight is imminent — use that time to prepare rather than get caught off guard mid-air-chase.
