Overview
The Village Finder Compass is a magical one-of-a-kind navigation tool that instantly locates the nearest village and lets you teleport there with a single click. Whether you are exploring a new world or need to trade with villagers quickly, this compass removes the hassle of wandering for hours in search of a settlement.
What It Adds
- Village Finder Compass — A single enchantment-glinting compass item found in the Tools creative tab. It searches for the nearest village within a wide radius and provides a clickable in-chat teleport link straight to it.
How To Use
Finding a Village
Hold the Village Finder Compass in either hand and right-click. The compass immediately begins scanning the surrounding area:
- A yellow "Searching for nearest village…" message appears on your screen.
- If a village is found, you hear a chime and see enchanting particles swirl around you.
- A gold chat message displays the village's X and Z coordinates.
- A bold green [Teleport to Village!] link appears right beside the coordinates in chat.
If no village is found within range, a red message informs you and no teleport link is shown.
Teleporting
Click the [Teleport to Village!] chat link after a successful search:
- Portal particles burst around you at your departure point.
- You are teleported to a safe, solid-ground position inside the village.
- Happy villager particles and a landing sound play at the destination.
- A green "Teleported to village!" action-bar message confirms the arrival.
Cooldown
After each use, the compass enters a 5-second cooldown (shown by the standard item cooldown overlay). Attempting to use it during this window shows a red "Compass is on cooldown!" message and the search does not trigger.

Crafting And Obtaining
Craft the compass at a crafting table using emeralds, a standard compass, and redstone:
The recipe is unlocked automatically as soon as you join a world — no advancements required. The item can also be found in the Tools tab of the creative inventory.
Progression And Strategy
- Early game: Gather the few required materials (emeralds from trading or mining, redstone, and a compass) as soon as possible to gain instant village access for trading, iron golem farms, or shelter.
- Exploration: Use the compass each time you move to a new biome or dimension-adjacent area to quickly establish a trading post without map-scouring.
- Cooldown management: The 5-second cooldown is short, but the teleport link persists in chat from your last search — you can click an older link again without re-using the compass, as long as the stored target is still valid.
- One per search: The compass stores only the most recent village target. If you right-click again, the previous target is replaced with the new result.
