Quickstart

1. Open the Creative inventory and select the Spawn Eggs tab.
2. Choose Rilliger Spawn Egg or Vavager Spawn Egg.
3. Use the egg on the ground to spawn the corresponding mob.
4. Spawn a Rilliger near hostile mobs to watch it hunt, or place a Vavager near a group of hostile mobs to create a larger defender.
5. Keep your distance from Rilligers: they target players as well as hostile mobs.

You can also use commands:

• /give @s vavager-guardian-s5kwhejz:rilliger_spawn_egg
• /give @s vavager-guardian-s5kwhejz:vavager_spawn_egg
• /summon vavager-guardian-s5kwhejz:rilliger
• /summon vavager-guardian-s5kwhejz:vavager

Overview

Village And Ravage adds two villager-themed melee mobs to the Overworld:

• Rilliger — a hostile, villager-shaped hunter that attacks players and hostile mobs.
• Vavager — a ravager-sized defender that attacks hostile mobs while using villager sounds.

Both mobs can wander, swim, look around, and fight nearby targets. Neither requires a crafting recipe; they are obtained through natural spawning or spawn eggs.

What It Adds

Both spawn eggs are available in the Creative inventory’s Spawn Eggs tab.

How To Use

Rilliger

Use a Rilliger Spawn Egg on a block to place a Rilliger. It immediately behaves as a hostile melee mob and can select:

• Players
• Hostile mobs

Rilligers are dangerous at close range, so avoid spawning one beside yourself unless you are prepared to fight it. Their villager-shaped appearance makes them easy to distinguish from ordinary villagers.

Vavager

Use a Vavager Spawn Egg on a block to place a Vavager. It searches for hostile mobs and attacks them in melee combat. Vavagers do not select players as targets, making them useful as large defenders for areas where hostile mobs appear.

Try placing a Vavager near hostile mobs and observe how it patrols the area and engages them.

Natural Spawning

Both mobs can naturally spawn in Overworld biomes:

• Rilligers appear in groups of one or two.
• Vavagers appear individually.

Spawn eggs and /summon commands give you direct control when you want to test them in a specific location.

Abilities And Mechanics

Rilliger

• Maximum health: 20 points
• Attack damage: 12 points
• Movement speed: 0.5
• Uses melee attacks.
• Hunts players and hostile mobs.
• Can swim.
• Wanders when it has no target.
• Awards 10 experience points when defeated.

Vavager

• Uses a large ravager-sized body and a custom Vavager appearance.
• Uses melee attacks.
• Hunts hostile mobs.
• Does not select players as attack targets.
• Can swim and wander when no hostile mob is nearby.
• Awards 20 experience points when defeated.
• Uses villager ambient, hurt, death, and attack sounds.

Crafting And Obtaining

There are no crafting recipes for the mobs or their spawn eggs.

Obtain them by:

• Finding them through natural Overworld spawning.
• Selecting their spawn eggs from the Creative inventory.
• Giving yourself a spawn egg with /give.
• Summoning them directly with /summon.

Progression And Strategy

• Use Vavagers as heavy defenders against hostile-mob groups.
• Use Rilligers for more chaotic encounters, since they attack both hostile mobs and players.
• Keep Rilligers away from ordinary player areas unless you want them to act as threats.
• Give Vavagers room to move so they can reach hostile mobs.
• Spawn one Vavager near several hostile mobs to see how its single-target hunting behavior handles the encounter.
• Fight Rilligers at range when possible; their melee attack is powerful despite their villager-sized appearance.
