Tunnel Bore

Quickstart

1. Craft a Tunnel Bore at a Crafting Table using the recipe below.
2. Place it by using (right-clicking) the Tunnel Bore item on any solid surface — the vehicle will appear in the world.
3. Mount it by right-clicking the vehicle. You'll see the prompt "Ride Tunnel Bore".
4. Drive forward with your normal movement keys. The front drill automatically mines a 3×3 tunnel ahead of you.
5. Dismount when you want to collect your loot. Sneak + right-click the parked bore to open the cargo GUI and withdraw your mined blocks.

Overview

Tunnel Bore is a rideable mining vehicle with an enclosed cockpit and a rotating front drill. Point it at a hillside or dig a straight underground highway — the bore handles all the breaking while you steer. Everything it mines is automatically stored inside the vehicle, keeping your personal inventory free until you're ready to collect.

How To Use

Placing the Vehicle

Hold the Tunnel Bore item and right-click (use) a solid surface. The vehicle spawns facing your current direction.

Riding and Driving

Right-click the vehicle to mount it. Once seated:

• Use movement keys (W/A/S/D or the on-screen joystick) to steer and drive.
• The drill fires automatically every few ticks while you move forward, clearing a 3×3 area of blocks directly ahead.
• The drilled blocks are collected into the bore's internal cargo — your own inventory is untouched.

Accessing Cargo

To retrieve mined blocks:

1. Dismount the vehicle first.
2. Sneak (crouch) and right-click the bore.
3. A cargo GUI opens listing all stored block types and quantities.
4. Select a stack to withdraw it into your inventory. If your inventory is full, an on-screen message will notify you.

Dismounting

Simply dismount with the standard sneak/jump dismount control. The bore stays put and keeps its cargo until you retrieve it or drive again.

Craft the Tunnel Bore at a Crafting Table. The recipe unlocks automatically once you have Iron Ingots and Redstone in your inventory.

The recipe yields 1 Tunnel Bore item. Stack size is limited to 1.

Abilities And Mechanics

Automatic Drilling

While a player is seated and driving, the bore continuously drills a 3×3 tunnel in the direction it is facing. Blocks are broken and stored internally — you do not need to hold any tool.

Cargo Storage

All mined blocks accumulate inside the bore up to its cargo capacity. Multiple block types are tracked separately. When you open the cargo GUI, each entry shows the block type and how many have been collected. Withdrawing transfers blocks directly to your inventory.

Progression And Strategy

• Early tunnel projects: Craft the Tunnel Bore as soon as you have iron, copper, redstone, and a diamond pickaxe. It replaces the tedious hand-mining of long corridors entirely.
• Resource gathering: Drive through ore-rich layers and collect everything in one pass. Stop periodically to empty the cargo before it fills up.
• Direction planning: The bore drills where it faces when you mount up, so position it carefully before riding — it cannot turn mid-tunnel without opening up extra space on the sides.
• Retrieval runs: Park the bore at a staging area, sneak-click to empty its cargo into your inventory or nearby chests, then send it back in for another pass.
