Quickstart

1. Head to a Crimson Forest biome in the Nether — that's the only place these creatures spawn naturally.
2. Watch out for Posin, a hostile hoglin variant that will hunt you down. Keep your distance or come prepared to fight.
3. You'll also encounter Toxin (the "myhoglin" hoglin variant), another dangerous hog roaming the same biome.
4. If you want to spawn one yourself, use a Posin Spawn Egg or Toxin Spawn Egg from your creative inventory, or summon them by ID:
   • com_toxin_veoux63m:posin
   • com_toxin_veoux63m:myhoglin
5. Defeat them for meat and other drops, or ride a baby before it grows up.

Overview

Toxin adds two new hostile hoglin variants to the Crimson Forest: Toxin and Posin. Both look and behave like hoglins but come with their own textures, models, and combat tuning. They act as dangerous predators of the Crimson Forest, actively hunting nearby entities rather than just passively wandering.

What It Adds

Both variants spawn in small herds of 1-2 and are more common than a typical Nether mob, since they use elevated spawn weights within the Crimson Forest.

How To Use

• Encountering them: Explore the Crimson Forest and you may run into groups of Toxin or Posin roaming or lurking in darker corners. They will target and attack nearby creatures, including you, once alerted.
• Fighting them: Both are tougher than a standard hoglin. Toxin hits for more damage per strike, while Posin recovers from anger more quickly but is less punishing in a single hit. Bring weapons and armor before approaching.
• Taming/riding babies: Baby Toxin and Posin can be fed crimson fungus to speed up growth, and piglins can ride them using the available saddle-less seats while they're young.
• Escaping the Nether: If either creature leaves the Nether, it becomes agitated and will transform into a Zoglin after a short time, just like a normal hoglin taken out of its home biome.
• Spawn eggs: Use the Toxin Spawn Egg or Posin Spawn Egg from creative mode to place either mob anywhere you like for testing or decoration.

Crafting And Obtaining

There is no crafting involved with this mod — Toxin and Posin are creature-only additions. You obtain their drops by defeating them in combat:

Toxin drops:

• 3–6 porkchops (cooked if killed while on fire)
• 0–2 leather
• Spider eyes (chance-based, requires a player kill)
• A poisonous potato (rare chance, requires a player kill)

Posin drops:

• 2–4 porkchops (cooked if killed while on fire)
• 0–1 leather

Looting enchantments increase the quantity and chance of these drops.

Abilities And Mechanics

• Aggro behavior: Both mobs become angry and attack when hurt or when they spot a target, broadcasting their anger to nearby herd members within 16 blocks.
• Anger duration: Toxin stays enraged for an extremely long time once triggered, while Posin's anger fades after about 10 seconds, letting it calm down faster.
• Attack cooldowns: Toxin attacks with shorter cooldowns (2–4 seconds) than Posin (10–15 seconds), making Toxin more relentless in sustained fights.
• Zombification: Taking either mob out of the Nether starts a shaking countdown; after about 15 seconds outside Nether conditions, it transforms into a Zoglin.
• Herding: They form small herds and boost each other's aggression when one member is provoked.

Progression And Strategy

Approach the Crimson Forest with decent gear before engaging either creature — they hit harder than a vanilla hoglin and hunt in small packs. If you want a farmable source of porkchops and leather, thin out a herd with a looting-enchanted weapon for better yields. Taming a baby early by feeding it crimson fungus lets it grow into an adult you can observe (and ride, if you're a piglin) before it becomes a threat.
