Wield a water-forged katana — speed, strength, and watery blasts.
Mod Wiki
Tideborn Katana
Quickstart
- Craft the Tideborn Katana using the recipe below.
- Hold it in your main hand — you'll immediately start passively gaining Strength and Speed as long as it stays equipped.
- Right-click (or use the item's action button on Bedrock touch/controller) to fire a fast water blast at whatever you're aiming at.
- Watch your cooldown — the katana needs about 1.5 seconds to recharge between water shots.
Overview
The Tideborn Katana is a water-forged blade that fights as both a melee weapon and a ranged tool. Simply carrying it in hand grants passive combat buffs, and firing it off launches a speeding jet of water that damages, knocks back, and douses enemies in a soaking slowness effect.
What It Adds
- Tideborn Katana — a one-handed sword-type weapon with a permanent enchanted glint.
- A ranged water shot attack fired directly from the katana.
- Passive Strength I and Speed I buffs while the katana is equipped in your main hand.
Crafting And Obtaining
The katana is crafted at a crafting table using iron ingots, prismarine crystals, and a stick.
Abilities And Mechanics
Melee combat
- Deals solid base melee damage as a sword.
- Can be enchanted like other swords and repaired with iron ingots.
- Has moderate durability (500 uses) and a chance to take damage each hit.
Passive buffs
- While the katana is held in your main hand, you continuously receive Strength I and Speed I. The effects refresh automatically, so they persist as long as you keep it equipped — unequip it and the buffs fade.
Water Shot (ranged attack)
- Right-click/use the katana to fire a fast-traveling water projectile in the direction you're facing.
- The shot travels up to about 20 blocks, leaving a trail of water splash particles, and stops early if it hits terrain.
- On hitting a living target, it deals moderate damage, applies knockback, extinguishes fire on the target, and soaks it with a temporary "wet" slowing effect lasting a few seconds.
- Firing the water shot triggers a distinct swoosh/splash sound and puts the ability on a short cooldown (about 1.5 seconds) before it can be used again.
- Using the katana slightly slows your movement while you swing it, so time your attacks carefully in combat.
Progression And Strategy
Use the Tideborn Katana as a hybrid weapon: rely on its passive Strength and Speed boost to close distance and outmaneuver enemies, then finish or soften targets from range with water shots before moving in for melee strikes. The wet/slowness effect from the ranged attack is especially useful for pinning down fleeing enemies or setting up a follow-up melee combo. Keep spare iron ingots on hand to repair the katana between fights, since both combat modes consume durability over time.
