The Dream Machine

Quickstart

1. Craft the Dream Machine with a white bed and two amethyst shards:

1. Place it like a bed. It occupies a 1×2 footprint; the block you click becomes the foot, and the head faces the direction you are looking.
2. Wait until night, then right-click either half of the machine to enter the Dreamscape.
3. Explore the procedurally generated dream world and collect any rewards you find.
4. Your normal inventory, armor, and offhand are restored when you return. The rewards collected in the Dreamscape are kept.
5. After returning, right-click the machine again at night to dream again.

You can mine either half of the placed machine to pick it up.

Overview

The Dream Machine is a placeable bed-like structure that transports you to a separate, procedurally generated Dreamscape. Each dream is a short, self-contained expedition where your usual equipment is temporarily stored while you explore.

A dream lasts about 45 seconds. When the dream ends—or if you leave because of death, interruption, or reconnection—you return to the normal world and your saved equipment is restored.

What It Adds

• The Dream Machine — A craftable, placeable 1×2 structure that behaves like a bed.
• The Dreamscape — A separate world with procedurally generated terrain, materials, decorations, and dream-themed environments.
• Dream rewards — Items earned during a dream remain with you after returning.
• Dream audio — A looping soundtrack plays while you are inside the Dreamscape. Vanilla Minecraft music is suppressed so the tracks do not overlap.

How To Use

Crafting

Craft the machine from:

• 1 white bed
• 2 amethyst shards

The amethyst shards are placed on either side of the white bed in the middle row of the crafting grid.

Placing the Machine

Hold the Dream Machine and place it as you would place a bed.

• It forms a 1×2 structure.
• The block you click becomes the foot.
• The head is oriented in the direction you are looking.
• Make sure there is enough room for both halves before placing it.

Entering a Dream

Use the machine at night by right-clicking either half. The entire structure functions as one machine, so you do not need to target a particular part.

Once inside, explore the generated Dreamscape and gather its rewards. Your inventory, armor, and offhand are cleared for the duration of the dream so that the expedition is separate from your normal survival equipment.

Returning

You return automatically when the dream ends. You can also leave through an interruption, death, or reconnection.

When you return:

• Your inventory is restored.
• Your armor and offhand are restored.
• Rewards collected in the Dreamscape are retained.
• The dream soundtrack stops immediately.

There is a short cooldown of about 20 seconds after waking before another dream can begin.

Picking It Up

Mine either half of the placed Dream Machine. The structure can be picked up from either side rather than requiring you to break a specific half.

Abilities And Mechanics

Temporary Dream Equipment

Before entering, the machine snapshots your inventory, armor, and offhand, then clears them while you dream. This keeps the Dreamscape run independent from your normal equipment.

The stored items return when you leave. Items obtained inside the Dreamscape are not removed when your original equipment is restored.

Procedural Dreamscapes

Each visit takes place in a separate Dreamscape designed for exploration. Its terrain and visual arrangements are generated from dream-themed palettes, so the environment can include unusual combinations of familiar Minecraft materials.

Dream Music

While you are in the Dreamscape, The Dream Machine plays a repeating dream soundtrack at a steady volume. Normal Minecraft music is suppressed during the visit, and the custom soundtrack ends as soon as you leave for any reason.

Crafting And Obtaining

The Dream Machine is obtained by crafting it with a white bed and two amethyst shards:

After crafting, it appears as a single item that places the complete 1×2 machine.

Progression And Strategy

• Place the machine somewhere easy to find, since you must return to it for later dream visits.
• Enter with an empty inventory when possible; your normal items are stored automatically, but this leaves room for dream rewards.
• Use the Dreamscape’s limited time efficiently by exploring immediately and collecting rewards as you go.
• Keep the machine accessible and wait through the cooldown after returning before attempting another visit.
• Do not worry about losing your regular armor or tools during a normal trip: they are restored when the dream ends.
