Quickstart

• In Survival, you receive a guidebook in your inventory on your first spawn.
• To craft one, use a crafting table and combine a book, a compass, and paper:

• Select the guidebook and use it to open its pages. Start with First Days, then browse Shelter & Food, Mining & Gear, and Beyond. Select Done to close it.

Overview

The Survival Guidebook is a reusable in-game reference with practical tips for progressing from your first tools and shelter toward the Nether and the End. It offers advice rather than special abilities or equipment.

What It Adds

• A single-stack guidebook that opens a four-section information screen.
• Survival tips covering early crafting, shelter, food, mining, and later exploration.

How To Use

Hold the guidebook and use it to open the guide. Browse its sections using the screen’s tabs, then choose Done to close it. Using the guidebook does not consume it.

Progression And Strategy

• First days: Gather logs, make planks and a crafting table, then craft a wooden pickaxe and upgrade to stone. Build a lit shelter before night.
• Shelter and food: A bed sets your spawn and can skip the night when sleepers agree. Cook meat, grow crops, and breed animals to maintain a food supply. Carry food and a shield; use torches to light your base and help keep hostile mobs away.
• Mining and gear: Bring torches, food, and spare pickaxes underground. Avoid digging straight down. Use a stone pickaxe to mine iron, then smelt it; iron tools, armor, and a bucket are useful upgrades.
• Beyond: Use a diamond pickaxe to mine obsidian and build and light a portal to the Nether. Find blaze rods and pearls, then follow Eyes of Ender to a stronghold and prepare for the End.
