Ancient Rod of Lightning

Quickstart

1. Craft the Stormcaller Rod using an End Rod and Amethyst Clusters (see recipe below).
2. Equip it in your hand — it can be held in either the mainhand or offhand.
3. Just carry it while equipped: it periodically calls down lightning on its own.
4. In Creative mode, crouch while holding the rod to open the Stormcaller Target menu and strike any online player with lightning on demand.

Overview

The Stormcaller Rod is a magical weapon infused with storm energy. Once equipped, it channels bolts of lightning that seek out nearby hostile mobs, and in Creative mode it can also be aimed directly at other players through a simple selection menu. It's both a monster-hunting tool and a fun creative-mode toy for battle testing or showcases.

What It Adds

• Stormcaller Rod – a rare, glowing tool-type item that periodically strikes lightning near its wielder.
• A Creative-only targeting menu that lets you call lightning down on any currently online player.
• Built-in fire resistance and automatic fire suppression around the wielder while the rod is equipped, so you won't burn yourself or scorch the landscape while using it.

Crafting And Obtaining

The Stormcaller Rod is crafted at a crafting table:

It can be repaired using additional End Rods, which restore a good chunk of its durability.

How To Use

• Equip it: Place the rod in your mainhand (it also works from the offhand, but using it always moves it to your mainhand).
• Passive strikes: While equipped, the rod automatically calls down lightning every one to three seconds. If a hostile mob (zombie, skeleton, etc.) is within about 12 blocks, the bolt targets that mob directly; otherwise it strikes randomly within a similar radius around you.
• Damage: Each lightning strike deals 10 damage to nearby monsters caught in the blast.
• Creative targeting menu: If you are in Creative mode, crouch while holding the rod to open the "Stormcaller Target" menu. Choose any online player's name from the list to instantly strike them with a bolt of lightning dealing 10 fire damage. Crouch again after releasing crouch to reopen the menu for another target.
• Fire safety: While the rod is equipped, you gain temporary fire resistance and any fire ignited near you from the strikes is automatically cleared, so you and your surroundings stay safe from the flames.

Progression And Strategy

• Keep the rod equipped while exploring at night or in mob-dense areas — its automatic hostile targeting turns it into a passive area-damage tool against monsters.
• Because it prioritizes the nearest hostile mob, it's especially effective for crowd control against groups of monsters like zombie hordes or skeleton patrols.
• In Creative mode, use the targeting menu for quick demonstrations, duels, or testing player damage/knockback interactions without needing command blocks.
• Repair the rod with End Rods to keep it going indefinitely rather than needing to recraft it from scratch.
