Description
Frozen zombies shamble through snowy biomes with icy, winter-themed appearances.
Mod Wiki
Snow Zombie
Quickstart
- Get a Snow Zombie Spawn Egg from your Creative inventory and use it to spawn a Snow Zombie anywhere you like.
- Prefer natural encounters? Head into cold, frozen, snowy, or icy biomes at night or in dark areas (light level 7 or below) — Snow Zombies spawn there in small packs of 2-3, just like regular zombies do near you.
- Fight one and see what it drops — expect the usual zombie leftovers plus a chance at some frosty extras like snowballs and ice.
- Watch out if one falls into water: given enough time it will transform into a Drowned!
Overview
The Snow Zombie is a hostile, undead mob themed around icy, snowy environments. It looks and behaves like a classic zombie but is built to inhabit the coldest corners of the world, shambling through snow-covered lands and ice biomes in small groups. It fights, breaks down doors, drowns, and can even carry a rider — everything you'd expect from a zombie, wrapped in a wintery coat.
What It Adds
- Snow Zombie — a new hostile mob that spawns naturally in cold, frozen, snowy, and icy biomes.
- Snow Zombie Spawn Egg — lets you summon Snow Zombies directly in Creative or with commands.
- Themed loot including snowballs and ice, alongside typical zombie drops.
How To Use
- Spawning naturally: Snow Zombies appear in monster-eligible areas within cold/frozen/snow/ice biomes, in dim light (brightness 0–7), usually in herds of 2–3.
- Spawning manually: Use the Snow Zombie Spawn Egg on any block to place one instantly.
- Interacting: You can interact with a Snow Zombie directly (for example, to pick it up or trigger certain behaviors if riding mechanics apply).
- Naming: Like most mobs, you can rename a Snow Zombie with a name tag.
Abilities And Mechanics
- Combat: Deals melee damage and can pick up and wield weapons and armor it finds or that spawn with it, prioritizing better gear such as netherite or diamond swords.
- Door breaking: Capable of breaking down wooden doors to reach players.
- Fire and daylight: Burns in direct sunlight like a normal zombie, so it prefers to stay in shade, at night, or underground.
- Amphibious movement: Can walk, climb, and move through water without drowning immediately.
- Drowned transformation: If a Snow Zombie stays underwater long enough, it begins shaking and eventually transforms into a Drowned, dropping any equipment it was carrying in the process.
- Riding: Adult Snow Zombies can carry a passenger of their own kind on their back, forming a "zombie jockey"-style pairing, with a baby zombie sometimes hunting for a mount to ride.
- Baby variants: Smaller, faster Snow Zombies exist as a baby form, moving quicker than adults but being weaker overall.
- Lava danger: Like other mobs, it takes continuous damage if it wanders into lava.
Progression And Strategy
- Snow Zombies are most commonly encountered while exploring icy or snowy biomes, so bring cold-weather gear and be ready for ambushes in packs of 2–3.
- Defeating them can reward you with rotten flesh, and occasionally iron ingots, carrots, potatoes, snowballs, or ice — useful ingredients for cooking, building, or fending off the heat.
- Keep an eye on any Snow Zombie that wanders near water — if you want to avoid dealing with a Drowned instead, finish it off quickly before it can complete the transformation.
- Because Snow Zombies can equip weapons and armor, be cautious around herds that may have picked up better gear, as they can hit harder than a typical unarmed zombie.
