Sniffrider

Quickstart

1. Open your Creative inventory and search for Sniffrider to find its spawn egg.
2. Use the spawn egg on grass or any solid ground to summon a Sniffrider.
3. Stay nearby and let it roam — it will automatically hunt down hostile mobs that get close.
4. You can also find Sniffriders spawning naturally in Overworld biomes while exploring.

Overview

The Sniffrider is a friendly, strider-shaped guardian creature that patrols the Overworld and protects players by attacking hostile monsters on sight. Rather than being ridden like a normal strider, it acts as a wandering defender — think of it as a loyal watchdog that clears out threats before they reach you.

What It Adds

• Sniffrider – a passive-toward-players creature that actively seeks out and fights hostile mobs like zombies, skeletons, and creepers.
• Sniffrider Spawn Egg – lets you summon a Sniffrider anywhere in Creative mode.

How To Use

• Spawning via egg: Grab the Sniffrider spawn egg from the Spawn Eggs tab in Creative inventory and right-click (or use) on any block to place one in the world.
• Natural spawns: Sniffriders can also appear on their own in Overworld biomes, so you may stumble upon one while exploring.
• Letting it work: Once spawned, a Sniffrider needs no commands or interaction — it will automatically look for and attack nearby hostile mobs to keep the area safe.
• Movement: Like a strider, it moves comfortably over lava and rough terrain, and swims when needed, so it can patrol a variety of environments.

Abilities And Mechanics

• Hostile mob hunting: Sniffriders actively target and attack any hostile mob (zombies, skeletons, spiders, and similar creatures) within their detection range, engaging in melee combat to protect the area.
• Non-threatening to players: Sniffriders never attack players — they are strictly on your side.
• Awareness: They keep an eye on nearby threats, turning to look at hostile mobs even before charging in.
• Wandering behavior: When there's nothing to fight, a Sniffrider wanders the area and swims across water rather than staying rooted in place.
• Sturdy guardian: With high health and solid attack strength, a Sniffrider can hold its own against most common hostile mobs.

Progression And Strategy

• Place or lure a few Sniffriders around a base, farm, or outpost to act as a passive defense line against hostile mob incursions, especially at night.
• Because they roam and hunt independently, positioning several Sniffriders along likely mob spawn paths (like cave entrances or open plains at night) helps keep dangerous areas clear.
• They're especially useful in builds or explorations where players don't want to fight every monster themselves — let the Sniffriders handle nearby threats while you focus on building or gathering resources.
