Sniffn Hoglin

Quickstart

1. In Creative mode, search for Sniffn Spawn Egg or Sniffer Skeleton Spawn Egg and use one to place the mob.
2. You can also summon them with:
   • /summon com_sniffn_hoglin_rxdt34bf:myhoglin
   • /summon com_sniffn_hoglin_rxdt34bf:sniffer_skeleton
3. For a first experiment:
   • Keep Sniffn in the Nether, preferably in a Crimson Forest. Feed adult Sniffn Crimson Fungus to breed them.
   • Keep a Sniffer Skeleton under a roof or underground so daylight cannot burn it. Give it Torchflower Seeds to attract, heal, breed, or help raise it.
4. Give an adult Sniffer Skeleton access to dirt, grass, moss, mud, or another supported digging block. After scenting, it can search and dig for a seed item.

Overview

Sniffn Hoglin adds two custom mobs:

• Sniffn is a large, hostile Nether beast with 50 health. It attacks nearby players, spawns in Crimson Forests, and can breed with Crimson Fungus.
• Sniffer Skeleton is a 35-health creature with sniffer-like scenting and digging behavior. It can be healed, bred, and raised with Torchflower Seeds, but burns in daylight.

What It Adds

Both mobs can be summoned and spawned with their named Creative spawn eggs.

How To Use

Sniffn

Adult Sniffn target visible players within 16 blocks and attack with melee strikes. Their attacks deal 3–9 damage. Adults can become angry for about 10 seconds, alerting nearby adult Sniffn within 16 blocks.

Sniffn also:

• Have strong knockback resistance.
• Can be leashed.
• Avoid warped fungus, Nether portals, and respawn anchors.
• Avoid piglins that already have a target.
• Take 4 damage per tick while in lava.
• Transform into a vanilla Zoglin after spending about 15 seconds outside the Nether. Returning one to the Nether before the transformation completes stops the process.
• Can be pushed by pistons and can climb.

Baby Sniffn are smaller and deal 1 damage. They follow adults and grow over time.

Sniffer Skeleton

Sniffer Skeletons do not attack players. They wander, panic when threatened, and follow Torchflower Seeds held by a player.

Use Torchflower Seeds to:

• Attract a Sniffer Skeleton.
• Heal it for 2 health per use.
• Breed two adults.
• Feed and help babies grow.

Sniffer Skeletons burn in daylight, so keep them in shade, underground, or in the Nether. They also take 4 damage per tick in lava.

Crafting And Obtaining

There are no crafting recipes for the mobs or their spawn eggs.

Sniffn Natural Spawning

Sniffn naturally spawn:

• In Crimson Forests
• On Easy, Normal, or Hard difficulty
• In groups of 2–4
• Away from Nether Wart Blocks and Shroomlights

Most natural spawns are adults, with occasional babies. They do not naturally spawn on Peaceful difficulty.

Sniffn Breeding

Feed two adult Sniffn Crimson Fungus. They do not need to be tamed. Breeding produces a baby Sniffn.

Baby Sniffn can also be fed Crimson Fungus to help them grow.

Sniffer Skeleton Spawning

Use the Sniffer Skeleton Spawn Egg or the summon command:

/summon com_sniffn_hoglin_rxdt34bf:sniffer_skeleton

Sniffer Skeletons can appear as adults or babies when spawned. They remain in the world after being placed, making them useful for pens, gardens, and decorative builds.

Sniffer Skeleton Breeding

Feed two adult Sniffer Skeletons Torchflower Seeds. After breeding, one parent produces a Sniffer Egg.

Baby Sniffer Skeletons can be fed Torchflower Seeds and eventually grow into adults.

Abilities And Mechanics

Sniffer Skeleton Scenting And Digging

Adult Sniffer Skeletons occasionally stop to scent their surroundings. They can search within a broad nearby area and dig when they find a suitable block.

They can search and dig on:

• Dirt
• Coarse Dirt
• Grass
• Podzol
• Dirt With Roots
• Moss Blocks
• Pale Moss Blocks
• Mud
• Muddy Mangrove Roots

A digging attempt lasts roughly 8–10 seconds, with the discovered item appearing during the digging process. Babies do not perform the search-and-dig behavior.

For the best results, build a shaded enclosure with several of the supported blocks and give the adult room to wander.

Sniffn Combat

Adult Sniffn are dangerous at close range because of their high health and powerful melee attacks. They can also alert nearby adults when they acquire a target.

Use walls, elevation, or distance when fighting them. Do not rely on daylight to damage Sniffn; unlike the Sniffer Skeleton, Sniffn do not burn in sunlight.

Environmental Hazards

Drops And Experience

Sniffn Drops

An adult Sniffn drops:

• 3–5 Porkchops
• An additional 0–1 Porkchop from Looting
• 0–1 Leather when killed by a player
• An additional 0–1 Leather from Looting

If the Sniffn is on fire when it dies, the porkchops are automatically smelted. A player-killed Sniffn also provides 5 experience points.

Sniffer Skeleton Experience

A player-killed Sniffer Skeleton provides 1–3 experience points. Breeding Sniffer Skeletons can also provide 1–7 experience points.

Progression And Strategy

• Start with a Sniffer Skeleton enclosure made from solid blocks with a roof to block daylight.
• Include dirt, moss, mud, or another supported digging block so an adult can search for items.
• Keep Torchflower Seeds nearby for healing, breeding, and attracting Sniffer Skeletons.
• Use Crimson Fungus to establish a Sniffn breeding group in a Nether enclosure.
• Keep Sniffn away from warped fungus, portals, and respawn anchors so they do not flee.
• If transporting Sniffn outside the Nether, remember that they begin transforming into Zoglins after a short time.
