Snifferzilla
Quickstart
- Open the Creative inventory and search for Snifferzilla Spawn Egg or Giant Spawn Egg.
- Place a spawn egg in a clear area. Snifferzilla is extremely dangerous, so give yourself plenty of space before spawning it.
- You can also summon them with commands:
/summon com_snifferzilla_uj2gifxy:mysniffer
/summon com_snifferzilla_uj2gifxy:giant
- Watch Snifferzilla’s boss bar when you approach. Its blue glow, huge size, and sky-darkening effect make it easy to identify.
- Hold Torchflower Seeds near Snifferzilla to attract it. Seeds can also heal it, help it breed, or help a baby grow, so use them carefully.
There are no crafting recipes for this mod. The mobs are obtained through natural spawning, Creative spawn eggs, or commands.
Overview
Snifferzilla adds two hostile mobs:
- Snifferzilla — a gigantic, blue-glowing sniffer with a boss bar and enough attack power to destroy almost any mob in one hit.
- Giant — a large undead enemy that can spawn in groups, use weapons and armor, break doors, and transform into a Drowned when it remains underwater.
Snifferzilla is persistent, can be named, and can interact with several familiar sniffer mechanics despite being hostile.
What It Adds
| Mob | Main features |
|---|
| Snifferzilla | 1,000 health, 1,000 melee damage, 64-block target range, boss bar, breeding, digging, and Torchflower Seed interactions |
| Giant | 100 health, melee attacks, weapon and armor pickup, door breaking, sunlight burning, underwater Drowned transformation, and group spawning |
How To Use
Finding Snifferzilla Naturally
Snifferzilla can spawn naturally:
- On the Overworld surface
- In low light levels from 0–7
- On Normal or Hard difficulty
- Usually as a solitary mob
It is a rare and dangerous encounter. Keep nearby animals, villagers, and other mobs away from your base before searching for one.
Finding Giants Naturally
Giants can spawn:
- On the surface or underground
- In low light levels from 0–7
- On Easy, Normal, or Hard difficulty
- In biomes that allow monster spawning
- In groups of 2–4
Giants are more common than Snifferzilla and can create a much larger fight when several spawn together.
Using Spawn Eggs
The two spawn eggs are available in the Creative inventory:
- Snifferzilla Spawn Egg
- Giant Spawn Egg
Place an egg on a solid block to spawn its mob. Spawn them in an arena or open field if you want to observe their behavior safely.
Naming and Equipment
Both mobs can be named with a name tag.
Giants can pick up dropped items and may equip:
- Swords
- Helmets
- Chestplates
- Leggings
- Boots
- Carved pumpkins and certain skulls
Drop equipment near a Giant if you want to create an armed or armored variant. Giants can only carry one item in each equipment slot and may choose higher-priority gear over weaker equipment.
Abilities And Mechanics
Snifferzilla
- Extreme damage: Snifferzilla deals 1,000 melee damage.
- High durability: It has 1,000 health.
- Wide awareness: It can select hostile targets within 64 blocks and does not need direct line of sight to choose a target.
- Boss encounter: A boss bar named Snifferzilla appears nearby, and the sky darkens while the boss is in range.
- Aggressive behavior: It attacks mobs other than other Snifferzillas, making it dangerous around animals, villagers, golems, and other creatures.
- Torchflower Seeds: Seeds attract Snifferzilla and heal it for 2 health when used as a healing item.
- Digging: Adult Snifferzillas can search and dig in dirt, coarse dirt, grass, podzol, rooted dirt, moss, pale moss, mud, and muddy mangrove roots.
- Breeding: Two adult Snifferzillas can breed when fed Torchflower Seeds. A successful breeding produces a Sniffer Egg item.
- Babies: Baby Snifferzillas are much smaller and grow into adults after about 2 minutes. Feeding them Torchflower Seeds can also support their growth.
- Lava damage: Snifferzilla takes damage while in lava.
Giants
- Hostile targets: Giants pursue players, villagers, wandering traders, snow golems, iron golems, and baby turtles.
- Door breaking: Some Giants can break doors while pursuing targets.
- Sunlight weakness: Giants are undead and burn in daylight.
- Water transformation: A Giant that stays underwater begins transforming into a Drowned. Leaving the water interrupts the transformation. Baby Giants become baby Drowned variants.
- Equipment pickup: Giants can pick up nearby items and use weapons or armor.
- Baby and jockey variants: Some Giants spawn as babies, and a small number of baby Giants can attempt to ride another Giant.
- Adult mounts: Adult Giants can carry another Giant-type mob, but they are not intended as player mounts.
Crafting And Obtaining
There are no recipes for Snifferzilla or Giant.
You can obtain or encounter them through:
- Natural spawning
- Snifferzilla Spawn Egg in Creative mode
- Giant Spawn Egg in Creative mode
- The
/summon commands listed in the Quickstart section
- Drops from defeated mobs
Snifferzilla Drops
When killed by a player, Snifferzilla can drop:
- 4–8 Leather
- 1–3 Diamonds
- 1–3 Torchflower Seeds
- A Sniffer Egg, with an 8% base chance
- An Echo Shard, with a 5% base chance
Looting can increase variable quantities and slightly improve chance-based drops. A player kill also grants experience.
Giant Drops
Giants drop:
- 0–2 Rotten Flesh
- A chance of one Iron Ingot, Carrot, or Potato when killed by a player or the player’s pets
Looting can improve the Giant’s variable and chance-based drops. Player kills also grant experience, with baby Giants giving a larger base reward.
Progression And Strategy
- Prepare before spawning Snifferzilla. Use a large arena with escape routes and keep valuable animals and villagers far away.
- Do not bring ordinary mobs as distractions. Snifferzilla aggressively attacks nearby mobs and can eliminate them almost instantly.
- Use distance and terrain. Snifferzilla is primarily a melee threat, but its long target range and ability to navigate around terrain make simple walls unreliable.
- Use Torchflower Seeds carefully. They can attract or heal Snifferzilla, so avoid holding them near the boss unless you deliberately want its attention.
- Fight Giants in daylight when possible. Sunlight causes them to burn, although they remain dangerous while moving through shaded areas.
- Watch for equipment. A Giant carrying a sword or wearing armor is more dangerous than an unarmed Giant.
- Use water strategically. Keeping a Giant underwater starts its transformation into a Drowned, but remember that Giants can breathe underwater while the transformation is in progress.
- Use Looting for rewards. A Looting weapon is especially useful when hunting for Sniffer Eggs or Echo Shards from Snifferzilla.
