Quickstart

1. Craft the SMB3 Raccoon Suit using the recipe below and pick it up.
2. Hold it in your hand and right-click to equip it in your chestplate slot.
3. Jump off a ledge — you'll glide down safely with dramatically reduced fall damage.
4. To fly: sprint on the ground for at least 1 second, then jump. You'll take off for 5 seconds of free flight!

Overview

The SMB3 Raccoon Suit is a magical chestplate inspired by the iconic Raccoon Suit power-up from Super Mario Bros. 3. It combines armor protection with three distinct abilities: passive slow-fall gliding, a tail swipe attack, and a sprint-powered flight mode. The suit has an enchantment glint, signalling its magical nature.

What It Adds

The suit appears in the Combat tab of the Creative inventory and provides chestplate-level protection (6 armor points, comparable to iron).

How To Use

Equipping

Hold the suit in your hand and right-click to instantly equip it to your chestplate slot. Make sure your chestplate slot is empty first.

Passive Slow Fall

While wearing the suit and falling freely, your descent is automatically slowed. Fall damage is also greatly reduced, making long drops survivable.

Tail Swipe Attack

While wearing the suit, right-click with it in your hand to unleash a tail swipe. This sweeps all living enemies within 3 blocks in every direction, dealing 5 damage (2.5 hearts) and knocking them back. A sweep sound plays on activation and your arm swings visibly.

Flight

Flight requires a short runway:

1. Sprint on the ground for at least 1 full second to build up speed.
2. Jump while still sprinting — you'll launch into the air with a glide sound effect.
3. During the 5-second flight window:
   • Jump to ascend.
   • Sneak to descend faster.
   • Horizontal momentum is gently maintained.
4. When flight ends (timer expires or you land), you must land and sprint for 1 second again before you can fly once more.

Crafting And Obtaining

The suit is craftable as soon as you join a world — the recipe is automatically unlocked.

Arrange Rabbit Hide around the outside, a Feather at the top center, and an Elytra in the middle center on a crafting table.

Abilities And Mechanics

• Flight controls during flight: Jump = rise, Sneak = descend faster.
• Flight resets on landing — you must build sprint speed again each time.
• The suit cannot be repaired.
• The suit has a magical enchantment glint regardless of enchantments.

Progression And Strategy

• Craft the suit as early as you can obtain an Elytra. The Elytra is consumed in the recipe, but the Raccoon Suit offers active flight without needing firework rockets, plus a built-in combat tool.
• Use the tail swipe to clear groups of mobs at close range — it hits everything within 3 blocks simultaneously.
• Plan your flights: each launch requires a clear stretch of ground to sprint on. Avoid fighting in tight caves where you can't build speed.
• The slow-fall passive makes the suit excellent for exploring mountainous terrain and deep drops even when flight isn't available.
• Keep an eye on flight duration — 5 seconds is enough to clear obstacles or reach high ground, but not for long-distance travel. Land deliberately to reset your flight charge.
