Skyfire Barrage

Quickstart

1. Get the ingredients and craft a Skyfire Core first — it's needed for one of the ammo types.
2. Craft an Orbital Designator, a Nuke Shot, and a Stab Shot.
3. Hold the Orbital Designator and right-click a block to mark a target location.
4. Load it with a Nuke Shot or Stab Shot to choose your strike type, then trigger the barrage and take cover — the strike lands after a short delay with an audible warning ping.
5. In singleplayer or with permissions, you can also run /skyfire give to instantly receive an Orbital Designator, a Nuke Shot, and a Stab Shot, and /skyfire mode <stab|nuke> while holding the Designator to switch its firing mode without needing to swap shots.

Overview

Skyfire Barrage lets you call down devastating orbital strikes onto the battlefield without building cannons, TNT dupers, or stasis-chamber contraptions. Point at a spot, pick your payload, and watch the sky rain fire. Two strike types are available: a massive spherical Nuke that levels large areas, and a focused Stab that punches a narrow shaft straight down from high above, potentially reaching from bedrock to the sky.

How To Use

• Mark a target: Hold the Orbital Designator and right-click on a block. This sets the strike coordinates.
• Choose your payload: Use a Nuke Shot for a wide-area blast, or a Stab Shot for a deep, narrow vertical strike.
• Wait for impact: Once triggered, there's a countdown before the strike lands. You'll hear rising-pitch pings as it approaches — the pitch and tempo differ between Nuke and Stab strikes, so you can tell which one is incoming.
• Switch modes on the fly: If you have command access, /skyfire mode stab or /skyfire mode nuke while holding the Orbital Designator relabels it and locks in which shot type it will trigger next, letting you skip re-equipping shots each time.

Abilities And Mechanics

• Nuke Shot: Creates a very large spherical excavation and blast centered on the marked point — expect massive terrain destruction across a wide radius.
• Stab Shot: Carves a narrow vertical shaft, striking straight down with pinpoint precision rather than wide destruction — useful for tunneling or precision strikes without flattening the surrounding terrain.
• Designator modes: The Orbital Designator remembers whether it's set to Nuke or Stab, shown in its name ([NUKE] or [STAB]), so you always know what the next strike will do.
• Warning sounds: Both strike types play a countdown sound as they approach impact, giving you time to retreat before the payload lands.

Progression And Strategy

Start with Stab Shots for controlled excavation or vertical mining shafts, then move to Nuke Shots when you need to clear large areas, remove enemy bases, or reshape terrain quickly. Keep several Skyfire Cores on hand since they're consumed when crafting Nuke Shots, and always mark your target carefully — the Orbital Designator commits to whatever block you last right-clicked.
