The Sinking Snare Bucket is not stackable, but it can be used to create snares in different locations.
Overview
The Sinking Snare Bucket creates a concealed-style area trap made from powder snow. It is useful for slowing pursuers, trapping mobs, defending an entrance, or setting up hazards around a base.
A snare occupies a 3×3 area and extends three blocks upward from the targeted block. The trap only fills air blocks, so existing blocks are left in place.

How To Use
Creating a snare
Hold the Sinking Snare Bucket and use it on a block. The targeted block becomes the base of the trap, and the open air above it is filled with powder snow.
You can target blocks up to 6 blocks away. Liquid blocks can be targeted, but passable blocks cannot.
Catching entities
Lead a mob or player over the powder snow. Entities that enter the snare sink into it. Players inside the snare are repeatedly affected by:
- Slowness, making movement difficult
- Mining Fatigue, making it much harder to break blocks and escape by mining
The effects continue as long as the snare remains active and the player stays within its area.
Removing or disabling a snare
The snare remains active while powder snow is present in its center. If the center powder snow is removed or replaced, the snare stops reinforcing its effects. Because the bucket fills only air, blocks placed inside the trap can also prevent parts of the snare from being filled.
Crafting And Obtaining
Craft the Sinking Snare Bucket in a crafting table using string, cobwebs, a bucket, and a tripwire hook.
In Creative mode, you can also obtain it with:

Abilities And Mechanics
- Each use creates one 3×3 snare area.
- The snare is three blocks deep.
- Only air blocks above the selected block are filled; existing blocks are not replaced.
- The trap works in the dimension where it was created.

- A snare continues affecting players while its center powder snow remains.
- The powder snow provides the sinking behavior for entities, while the extra Slowness and Mining Fatigue effects specifically reinforce the trap for players.
Progression And Strategy
Use snares where movement is restricted:
- Place one in a doorway, tunnel, bridge, or narrow approach.
- Hide the trap beneath a route enemies are likely to follow.
- Combine it with walls, fences, or other barriers so trapped targets cannot simply walk around it.
- Keep the center powder snow intact to maintain the snare’s effects.
- In multiplayer, use snares to defend entrances or delay pursuing players.
- Against mobs, place the trap near a base perimeter or in a controlled arena so the sinking powder snow does the work while you remain at a safe distance.
