Sinking Mud Bucket

Quickstart

1. Obtain a Mud Bucket from the Creative inventory or craft one using a crafting table:

1. Use the Mud Bucket on the top face of a block with an empty space above it. This consumes one Mud Bucket and places Sinking Mud.
2. Step into the Sinking Mud. You will slowly sink downward, and the action bar will show your dive time, reward countdown, and best time.
3. Stay in the mud for 8 seconds, then leave it. A new Mud Bucket will spawn at your location as your reward.

For quick testing, you can use:

/give @s com_sinking_mud_bucket_eief2s7m:mud_bucket

Overview

Sinking Mud Bucket adds a craftable Mud Bucket that pours a special, non-solid Sinking Mud block. Players can dive into the mud, descend slowly, and earn another Mud Bucket by completing an 8-second dive.

What It Adds

• Mud Bucket — A single-use item that places Sinking Mud.
• Sinking Mud — A full mud-textured block with no collision. Players fall into it and sink at a controlled speed.
• Mud dive tracking — The action bar displays the current dive time and your best completed time.
• Dive reward — Completing an 8-second dive earns one Mud Bucket.

How To Use

Placing Sinking Mud

Hold a Mud Bucket and use it on a block. The space directly above the targeted block must be empty. If it is occupied, the bucket cannot pour and remains in your inventory.

When placement succeeds:

• One Mud Bucket is consumed.
• One Sinking Mud block is placed above the targeted block.
• A splash sound plays.
• A message confirms that the Sinking Mud was placed.

The Mud Bucket does not stack, so each bucket occupies its own inventory slot.

Diving

Step into a Sinking Mud block to begin a dive. While you are inside or passing through the mud:

• Your downward movement is slowed.
• Your movement is heavily reduced.
• The action bar shows your current sinking time.
• A depth score tracks the current number of seconds.
• Your best sinking time is recorded.

Move out of the Sinking Mud to end the dive. The timer resets when you leave.

Completing A Dive

Remain in the Sinking Mud for at least 8 seconds, then exit it. A Mud Bucket appears at your current location and a success message is displayed.

Leaving before 8 seconds ends the attempt without a reward. You can immediately try another dive.

Crafting And Obtaining

Craft the Mud Bucket in a crafting table with:

• 1 Mud
• 1 Bucket

Both ingredients must be available before the recipe unlocks. Mud Buckets can also be obtained from the Creative inventory.

Sinking Mud is available in the Creative inventory under the nature category. You can also obtain it with:

/give @s com_sinking_mud_bucket_eief2s7m:sinking_mud

Breaking Sinking Mud drops Sinking Mud.

Abilities And Mechanics

Sinking Mud Properties

• Sinking Mud has no collision, allowing players to pass through it.
• It can be mined relatively quickly.
• It has low explosion resistance.
• The block must have an empty space above its placement target when poured.

Dive Timer And Best Time

The action bar displays information in this format:

SINKING: current time | Reward in remaining time | Best: best time

The current dive time and depth score reset when you leave the mud. Your best time is retained as your personal record, even after a dive ends.

Building Dive Courses

Place Sinking Mud in a vertical column or pit to create a longer dive. Multiple blocks give you more room to descend before reaching solid ground. Leave an opening or clear route so you can escape after completing the timer.

Progression And Strategy

• Craft several Mud Buckets before building a dive course.
• Start with a short, easily escapable mud pit to learn the sinking speed.
• Use a vertical column of Sinking Mud for a reliable 8-second dive.
• Keep the exit clear so you do not remain in the mud after earning the reward.
• Watch the action bar rather than guessing when the reward timer is complete.
• Break and reposition Sinking Mud to create obstacle courses, sinking chambers, or timed challenge rooms.
