Singularity Grenade

Quickstart

1. Craft a Singularity Grenade using the recipe below.
2. Hold it in your hand and right-click (use item) to throw it.
3. Watch it fly, then wait about half a second — it will stop mid-air and bloom into a swirling purple accretion ring.
4. Get close (but not too close) and watch it pull in mobs, players, and even yourself. Anything dragged into the very center is destroyed instantly.
5. Throwing costs the item (unless in Creative) and puts a short cooldown on your next throw.

Overview

The Singularity Grenade is a thrown weapon that creates a miniature black hole. Once it lands and activates, it hangs in the air, ignoring gravity, and begins pulling every nearby living thing toward its center. The pull zone grows continuously over time, eventually reaching a massive radius. Unlike explosives, it never destroys blocks — only entities are affected.

What It Adds

• Singularity Grenade — a throwable item that spawns a gravity-well projectile.
• A distinct accretion ring particle effect that swirls and grows around the singularity, making the danger zone visible.

How To Use

• Throwing: Right-click while holding the grenade to launch it. It arcs slightly and travels a short distance before activating.
• Activation: After a brief moment in the air, the grenade stops moving entirely and becomes a stationary singularity — it will not fall, roll, or drift.
• Growing pull field: Starting small, the singularity's gravitational pull radius expands almost a full block every game tick, eventually covering a very large area.
• Pulling entities: Any living entity or player within range is dragged toward the center with increasing force the closer they get. This includes the player who threw it — nobody is safe once it forms.
• The point of no return: Entities that get pulled all the way into the core are instantly destroyed (mobs) or take massive damage (players and other living entities).
• Cooldown: After throwing, you must wait briefly before throwing another one.

Craft the Singularity Grenade using gunpowder, ender eyes, and a nether star in the pattern shown below:

Because it requires a nether star, this is an endgame item meant for players who have already defeated the Wither.

Abilities And Mechanics

• No block destruction: The singularity's pull affects entities only — terrain and structures are completely untouched.
• Indiscriminate targeting: The grenade does not distinguish between hostile mobs, passive mobs, other players, or the thrower. Anyone in range gets pulled in.
• Escalating danger: The longer the singularity exists, the larger and more dangerous its pull field becomes, so lingering nearby after throwing is risky.
• Visual warning: The rotating particle ring around the singularity marks roughly where the "safe" boundary is fading, giving players a chance to retreat.

Progression And Strategy

Use the Singularity Grenade as a crowd-control tool against groups of mobs or enemy players — throw it into the middle of a fight and back away as the pull field grows. Because the effect escalates over time and affects everyone equally, timing your retreat is key: throw it, then put distance between yourself and the blast zone before the field expands far enough to catch you too. It works well in open areas where enemies can't easily break line of sight, and its endgame crafting cost makes it a powerful tool reserved for players with access to nether stars.
