Silent Aegis Field
Quickstart
- Join any world with the mod installed. You will automatically receive the Silent Aegis Guide book and see a one-time chat confirmation that your forcefield is active.
- Open the Guide (use/interact with it from your hand or inventory) to access the control menu.
- From the menu, toggle the field on or off, check your current upgrade levels, and spend enchanted books to purchase upgrades.
- Walk into a group of hostile mobs to see the field in action — no effects needed on your part.
Overview
Silent Aegis wraps every player in a permanent, invisible personal forcefield. It produces no particles and adds no HUD overlays — the only feedback is a quiet ambient aura and the behavior of mobs and projectiles around you. Everything is controlled through a single in-game book called the Silent Aegis Guide.
What It Adds
| Feature | Details |
|---|
| Projectile Repulsion | Arrows, fireballs, and other projectiles are deflected within a 7-block radius |
| Mob Knockback | Hostile mobs that get close are launched away |
| Instant Healing | Any damage a hostile mob manages to deal is immediately restored |
| Warden Teleportation | Wardens within range are teleported 10 blocks away; their sonic boom attacks are reflected |
| Hostile Aura | A quiet passive aura continuously damages only hostile mobs near you |
| Silent Aegis Guide | A special book item that serves as the entire control panel for the field and its upgrades |
How To Use
Receiving the Guide
The Silent Aegis Guide is placed directly into your inventory the first time you join a world. If you ever need another copy, opening any book item will also trigger delivery. You only ever need one Guide; it stacks to 1.
Toggling the Field
Open the Guide to bring up the menu. The first option lets you toggle the forcefield on or off. Your preference is saved per-player.
Viewing Upgrade Status
The Guide menu shows your current level in each upgrade tree and what tier comes next, displayed in Roman numerals (I, II, III).
Applying Upgrades
- Place the required enchanted book in one of your hotbar slots (slots 1–9).
- Open the Guide and press the upgrade button for the desired tree.
- The mod checks your hotbar for an enchanted book with the exact matching enchantment and level needed for the next tier.
- If a valid book is found, the upgrade is applied and the book is consumed. The menu refreshes immediately to show your new tier.
- If no valid book is found, nothing is consumed and an error message appears in chat.
Abilities And Mechanics
Forcefield Behaviors
- Projectile deflection operates within a 7-block sphere. Projectiles are physically reversed with an impulse — they do not simply vanish.
- Mob knockback applies a strong horizontal push and a slight upward force to any hostile mob that enters close range.
- Warden handling is special: wardens are teleported away rather than knocked back, and any sonic boom they fire is reflected back.
- Instant healing means hostile mobs effectively cannot chip your health — damage is cancelled out the same tick it is applied.
- Hostile aura deals 1 point of damage to nearby hostile mobs on a rapid tick, passively clearing out groups over time. It only affects hostile mobs; passive animals and other players are unaffected.
Hostile Mob List
The aura and knockback target a broad set of hostile mobs including blazes, creepers, zombies, skeletons, endermen, the warden, the ender dragon, and many more vanilla hostile types.
Progression And Strategy
Silent Aegis has two upgrade trees, each with three tiers (I, II, III). Upgrades are purchased with specific enchanted books held in your hotbar.
| Upgrade Tree | Effect | Book Required per Tier |
|---|
| Looting I → III | Improves drop loot from mobs killed near you | Enchanted book with Looting at the matching level |
| Thorns I → III | Increases the damage dealt by the passive hostile aura | Enchanted book with Thorns at the matching level |
Upgrade path example for Looting:
- To unlock Looting I → hold a Looting I enchanted book in your hotbar, then press Unlock Looting I in the Guide.
- To reach Looting II → hold a Looting II enchanted book, press Upgrade Looting I → II.
- To reach Looting III → hold a Looting III enchanted book, press Upgrade Looting II → III.
The same sequential pattern applies to Thorns. Each step consumes exactly one enchanted book. You cannot skip tiers — the book must match the exact next level required.
Tips:
- Farm enchanted books from villager librarians or the enchanting table to have the right levels ready.
- Upgrade Thorns early if you want to passively grind mob farms — the aura clears mobs silently without drawing attention.
- The field is on by default; toggling it off can be useful if you need mobs to approach normally (e.g., trading interactions or photography).
- Your upgrade levels are stored per-player and persist across sessions and world reloads.
