Overview

Bigfoot is a tall, elusive creature that wanders the Overworld. Normally it keeps its distance, but when it grows hungry it turns aggressive, hunting down pigs, cows, and sheep to feed on. Players can intervene with a special camera — photographing Bigfoot startles it and sends it fleeing, buying time before it strikes again.

What It Adds

  • Bigfoot — a large humanoid monster that spawns naturally in Overworld biomes.
  • Bigfoot Camera — a craftable tool that scares Bigfoot away when used to photograph it.
  • Bigfoot Spawn Egg — lets you spawn Bigfoot directly for testing or observation.

How To Use

  • Hold the Bigfoot Camera and look at Bigfoot from up to about 32 blocks away, keeping it centered in your view.
  • Use the item (right-click) to take the photo. A spark of particles bursts out and, if Bigfoot was properly framed, it flees for a good while.
  • If no Bigfoot is in view when you use the camera, you'll get a message that there was no subject to photograph.
  • The camera has a short cooldown between uses, so you can't spam photos back-to-back.
  • Photographing a hungry, hunting Bigfoot immediately breaks off its attack and sends it running.

Crafting And Obtaining

Craft the Bigfoot Camera from iron ingots and a glass pane:

Bigfoot itself is not crafted — it spawns naturally in the world as a low-frequency monster. You can also summon one manually using the Bigfoot Spawn Egg from the creative inventory or via commands.

Abilities And Mechanics

  • Hunger system: Bigfoot has an internal hunger meter. Over time it slowly grows hungrier.
  • Livestock raids: Once sufficiently hungry, Bigfoot actively hunts and attacks nearby pigs, cows, and sheep. Killing livestock restores a large chunk of its hunger, letting it go quiet again for a while.
  • Combat: Bigfoot is a tough melee monster with high health, strong attack damage, and above-average speed — dangerous to livestock and players alike when hungry.
  • Fleeing from photos: Successfully photographing Bigfoot forces it to abandon any target and run away from the photographer's position for a long stretch of time, giving your animals a break.
  • Framing requirement: The camera only works if Bigfoot is close to the center of your view and within photo range; off-angle or distant Bigfoot won't register as a subject.

Progression And Strategy

  • Keep a Bigfoot Camera on hand if you keep livestock near wilderness areas — it's a nonlethal way to protect your animals without fighting.
  • Watch for Bigfoot behaving aggressively near your pens; that's a sign it's grown hungry and is hunting.
  • Repeated photography can keep a persistent Bigfoot away from your farm indefinitely, since each successful shot resets its flee timer.
  • Because Bigfoot is a strong melee fighter, it's often safer to snap a photo from range than to engage it directly, especially once it's already attacking.
