Shovel Combination Pack

Quickstart

1. Craft a Shovel Combiner and place it in the world.
2. Craft a Shovel Head, Reinforced Shovel Handle, and Combination Module.
3. Interact with the Shovel Combiner while all three parts are in your inventory, then choose Assemble Combination Shovel.
4. Hold the Combination Shovel and dig dirt, sand, gravel, clay, snow, mud, and other eligible blocks to earn XP.
5. Open the Shovel Combiner again to check your level or inject Shovel Charge for an additional 50 XP.

In Creative mode, the Shovel Combiner is listed under Construction, the Combination Shovel under Equipment, and the components under Items.

Overview

The Shovel Combination Pack adds a customizable progression-based shovel. Digging eligible terrain earns XP and unlocks stronger abilities:

• Basic digging starts in single-block mode.
• Level 2 unlocks horizontal 3×3 digging.
• Level 3 doubles digging XP.
• Level 4 gives qualifying digs a chance to produce Shovel Charge.

The shovel has 700 durability and deals 4 damage.

How To Use

Using the Shovel Combiner

Place the Shovel Combiner, then interact with it. The menu displays:

• Your current Combination Shovel level
• Your stored XP
• The assembly option
• The Shovel Charge injection option
• A brief recipe hint

To assemble the shovel through the menu, keep at least one of each component in your inventory:

• 1 Shovel Head
• 1 Reinforced Shovel Handle
• 1 Combination Module

Choosing Assemble Combination Shovel consumes those parts and gives you one Combination Shovel.

Digging

Hold the Combination Shovel in your selected hotbar slot and break eligible blocks normally. The shovel awards XP after you break a qualifying block.

At Level 2 and above, breaking one eligible block also clears qualifying blocks in a 3×3 horizontal area centered on the block you broke. The additional blocks must be on the same Y level and must also be valid digging blocks.

The progress display appears on the action bar while the Combination Shovel is selected.

Injecting Shovel Charge

Interact with a Shovel Combiner while carrying at least one Shovel Charge. Select Inject Shovel Charge to consume one charge and gain 50 XP.

Crafting And Obtaining

Shovel Head

Craft a Shovel Head from iron ingots.

Reinforced Shovel Handle

Craft a Reinforced Shovel Handle using oak planks and sticks.

Combination Module

Craft a Combination Module using amethyst shards, gold ingots, redstone, and a copper ingot.

Shovel Charge

Craft two Shovel Charges from lapis lazuli, quartz, and gold nuggets.

Shovel Combiner

Craft the Shovel Combiner from copper ingots, redstone, an iron ingot, and polished deepslate.

Combination Shovel

You can craft the Combination Shovel directly at a crafting table from a Shovel Head and a Reinforced Shovel Handle.

Alternatively, use the Shovel Combiner to assemble it from a Shovel Head, Reinforced Shovel Handle, and Combination Module.

Abilities And Mechanics

Eligible Blocks

The Combination Shovel’s progression and area-digging mechanics apply to:

• Dirt
• Grass blocks
• Coarse dirt
• Rooted dirt
• Podzol
• Mycelium
• Sand
• Red sand
• Gravel
• Clay
• Snow
• Snow layers
• Soul sand
• Soul soil
• Mud

The tool also functions as a shovel on blocks recognized by Minecraft as shovel-diggable.

XP Gain

Each eligible block normally grants 5 XP. Area digging counts each additional eligible block that is cleared.

At Level 3 and above, the XP gained from digging is doubled.

Durability

The Combination Shovel has 700 durability. Its digging speed on shovel-compatible blocks is 12.

Progression And Strategy

Progress is stored for each player. Digging large connected areas is especially effective after reaching Level 2, since every qualifying block cleared by the 3×3 effect contributes XP. Save Shovel Charges for use at the Shovel Combiner when you want to reach the next progression milestone more quickly.
