Overview
The Seraphic Greatsword is a divine, holy-themed two-handed blade forged from iron and radiant glowstone. It hits like a hammer of judgment in melee, and can also unleash a devastating ranged shockwave that sweeps across the battlefield, striking down anything caught in front of the wielder.
What It Adds
- Seraphic Greatsword — an epic-rarity sword with a golden enchantment glint, hefty melee damage, and a special holy wave attack.
Crafting And Obtaining
Craft the greatsword at a crafting table using glowstone dust, iron ingots, and an iron block.
Abilities And Mechanics
Melee Strikes
- Every direct hit deals very high damage and releases a burst of glowing end-rod particles at the point of impact — a mark of divine judgment.
- The blade is slightly heavier to swing than a normal sword and slows your movement slightly while wielding it.
Holy Wave (Special Attack)
- Triggered by using the item (holding and releasing the "use/throw" action).
- Fires a wide, long-range sweep of holy energy in the direction you're facing, reaching roughly 25 blocks and covering a 70-degree cone in front of you.
- Deals massive damage to every entity caught within the cone and range, and knocks them back.
- Accompanied by a rising beacon-like sound, an explosion sound, and a trail of end-rod and totem particles arcing outward from you.
- Has a short cooldown (a few seconds) before it can be used again, so time your sweeps carefully in combat.
Durability And Repair
- The greatsword has high durability and only occasionally loses durability per hit, so it lasts a long time in combat.
- Repair it at an anvil (or via repair mechanics) using iron ingots, which restore a large chunk of durability.
- It can also be enchanted like a normal sword.
Progression And Strategy
- Use melee attacks for single-target damage and to build up toward using the Holy Wave.
- Save the Holy Wave for groups of enemies lined up in front of you — its wide cone and long range make it ideal for clearing crowds or hitting fleeing targets at a distance.
- Because the wave has a cooldown, alternate between melee strikes and wave attacks to keep constant pressure on your foes.
- Keep iron ingots on hand to repair the blade between fights, since its high damage output makes it a strong long-term weapon investment.
