Seed Toggle

Quickstart

1. Load into a world with the mod installed.
2. Press F (default) to turn the Seed Toggle ON — you'll see a message in your action bar confirming "Seed Toggle: ON - grass always drops 1 seed".
3. Find any patch of short grass or tall grass and break it.
4. You will receive exactly 1 wheat seed, guaranteed, every time.
5. Press F again to turn the toggle OFF and return to normal vanilla grass drops.

Overview

Seed Toggle is a lightweight quality-of-life mod that removes the frustration of unreliable wheat seed drops from grass. With a single keypress you can flip between guaranteed seed farming mode and standard vanilla behavior. The toggle is tracked per-player, so each person in a multiplayer world controls their own setting independently.

What It Adds

• A per-player Seed Toggle that guarantees exactly 1 wheat seed when breaking eligible grass plants.
• A configurable keybinding (default: F) found under the Seed Toggle category in your Controls settings.
• An action bar notification that confirms the toggle state whenever you switch it.

How To Use

Toggling the Mode

Press the Toggle Guaranteed Grass Seeds key (default F) at any time while in a world. The action bar will display one of two messages:

Changing the Keybind

Open Options → Controls and scroll to the Seed Toggle category. Rebind Toggle Guaranteed Grass Seeds to any key you prefer.

Abilities And Mechanics

• Eligible plants: Short Grass, Tall Grass, Short Dry Grass, and Tall Dry Grass all count. Breaking any of these while the toggle is ON drops exactly 1 wheat seed.
• Guaranteed drop: The normal random chance for wheat seeds is bypassed entirely — you always get exactly one seed, no more, no less.
• Tall grass handling: Both the upper and lower halves of a two-block-tall grass plant are removed when broken, just as you'd expect.
• Creative mode exception: The guaranteed seed drop does not trigger when you are in Creative mode, even if the toggle is ON.
• Vanilla behavior when OFF: Disabling the toggle fully restores standard Minecraft grass drop logic, including the chance of getting no seeds at all.
• Multiplayer safe: Each player's toggle state is stored separately on the server. Enabling or disabling it for yourself has no effect on other players.

Progression And Strategy

• Turn the toggle ON early in a new world to quickly build up a wheat seed supply for your first farm, then turn it OFF once you have enough seeds so grass breaks feel natural again.
• In multiplayer, each player can decide independently whether they want the farming shortcut, making it friendly for both new players and veterans on the same server.
• Since the toggle persists until you manually switch it, consider rebinding the key to something easy to reach if you plan to flip it frequently while exploring and farming.
