Seed Devourer

Quickstart

1. Open your Creative inventory and search for Seed Devourer to find its spawn egg.
2. Throw the spawn egg on the ground to summon a Seed Devourer, or find one that has naturally spawned in an Overworld biome.
3. Take out Wheat Seeds and hold them in either hand — the Seed Devourer will notice and start charging at you.
4. Either fight it off or drop/put away the seeds to avoid its attention (though once it's already chasing you, it will keep fighting until it or you go down).

Overview

The Seed Devourer looks just like a friendly, harmless Sniffer — until you pull out Wheat Seeds. Underneath that gentle exterior is a fast, aggressive hunter that will beeline straight for any player holding seeds and attack with surprising force. It's a hidden threat disguised among peaceful mobs, rewarding cautious players who know to watch out before waving seeds around near one.

What It Adds

• Seed Devourer — a hostile mob that looks identical to a normal Sniffer.
• Seed Devourer Spawn Egg — used to summon this mob directly from the Creative inventory or with commands.

How To Use

• Spawning naturally: Seed Devourers spawn on their own in Overworld biomes alongside other creatures, so you may stumble across one without knowing it's dangerous.
• Spawning manually: Use the Seed Devourer spawn egg (found in the Spawn Eggs creative tab) and right-click/use it on the ground to place one.
• Triggering its hunt: The Seed Devourer constantly watches nearby players. If it sees you holding Wheat Seeds in your main hand or off hand, it will lock onto you as a target and charge in to attack.
• Avoiding detection: Simply not holding Wheat Seeds keeps you off its radar — it will otherwise wander around peacefully or look at nearby players without attacking.

Abilities And Mechanics

• Disguised appearance: Uses the same model and general look as a friendly Sniffer, making it indistinguishable at a glance.
• Seed detection: Continuously scans all nearby players; whoever is holding Wheat Seeds and is closest becomes its target.
• Aggressive charge: Once it has a target, it moves quickly (faster than a normal Sniffer) and closes the distance to melee attack.
• Heavy hitter: Deals significant melee damage per hit, capable of taking down an unprepared player quickly.
• Tough but not invincible: Has notably more health than a standard passive mob, so expect a real fight if it targets you.
• Basic self-preservation: Can swim, wander, and look around like other mobs when it doesn't currently have a target.

Progression And Strategy

• Be cautious about holding Wheat Seeds near Sniffer-like mobs in the wild — you can't tell a Seed Devourer apart from a real Sniffer just by looking at it.
• If you need to plant seeds or breed real Sniffers nearby, consider checking your surroundings first, since drawing seeds out will instantly alert any Seed Devourer in range.
• Because of its high damage and speed, it's best fought with proper gear and full health rather than casually approached.
• If you accidentally aggro one, retreating to break line of sight or using ranged attacks can help offset its strong melee damage.
