Sacred Fire Ward

Description
Place a sacred fire, destroy nearby unholy monsters, and gain holy protection through offerings so you can build your farm, village, city or town in peace. Purify zombie villagers instantly and cure them. It works almost like a mega-torch but more, with holy magic and holy protection against unholy mobs like creepers, undead and spiders. Doesn't work on non-unholies however like witches, illager enemies, piglins and slimes so keep in mind.

Sacred Ember Ward
Quickstart
- Craft or obtain a Sacred Ember Ward. In Survival, use the recipe below; in Creative, find it in the Functional Blocks tab or use:
/give @s sacred-ember-ward-mbljf4kq:sacred_ember_ward_mbljf4kq - Place the ward where you want protection. It emits bright light and animated flame particles.
- Stay within 128 blocks of the ward and watch it pulse. Nearby qualifying hostile mobs are destroyed automatically.
- For holy protection, hold a log, flower, or honeycomb and use it on the placed ward. One offering is consumed and you receive Glowing and Fire Resistance for 30 seconds.
- Try placing the ward near a village or settlement. Zombie villagers within its area are converted into villagers instead of being destroyed.

Overview
The Sacred Ember Ward is a placeable sacred flame that protects a large area from hostile creatures. It activates automatically while players are nearby, pulsing approximately every half-second.
The ward:
- Protects an area extending 128 blocks around itself.
- Instantly destroys many hostile mobs in its area.
- Converts zombie villagers into villagers.
- Emits light at level 14.
- Accepts offerings that grant temporary personal protection.
- Stacks to one item per inventory slot.
What It Adds
Sacred Ember Ward
The item places the corresponding ward block. Once placed, the ward displays a living flame with occasional smoke and emits a bright glow.
A ward is most useful as a defensive centerpiece for:
- Villages and trading halls
- Bases and settlements
- Courtyards and entrances
- Large builds that need broad hostile-mob protection
- Areas where zombie villagers are meant to be rescued
How To Use
Place the Ward
Hold the Sacred Ember Ward and use it on a suitable block face, just like placing an ordinary block. The ward begins protecting its surroundings automatically.
The protection check covers a 128-block area around the ward. It operates when a player is close enough for the ward to be found, so keep the ward within 128 blocks of an active player for reliable protection.
Offer Items to the Ward
Hold one of the following items and use it directly on the ward:
- Any item in the
#minecraft:logstag, including standard overworld logs - Any item in the
#minecraft:flowerstag - Honeycomb
Each successful offering:
- Consumes one item from the hand used
- Grants Glowing I for 30 seconds
- Grants Fire Resistance I for 30 seconds
- Produces a burst of holy particles around the ward
If you are not holding a valid offering, using the ward does not activate the offering effect.
Remove the Ward
Break the placed ward normally to pick it up. Place it again wherever protection is needed.
Abilities And Mechanics
Hostile-Mob Purge
During each pulse, the ward destroys qualifying hostile mobs inside its protection area. A column of holy light, sparks, and a zap sound appear at each affected mob.
The ward can target ordinary hostile enemies as well as several hostile or dangerous creatures that are not always classified as standard enemies, including:
- Camel husks
- Skeleton horses
- Zombie horses
- Zombie nautiluses
- Vexes
Protected Hostile Types
The following hostile creatures are deliberately not destroyed by the ward:
- Blazes
- Slimes
- Piglins
- Shulkers
- Witches
- Ravagers
- Illagers, including evokers, vindicators, and illusioners
These creatures can remain inside the ward’s area.
Zombie-Villager Conversion
Zombie villagers are treated differently from other hostile mobs. Instead of being killed, they are immediately converted into villagers when a ward pulses over them.
The converted villager retains the zombie villager’s villager data and experience, making the ward useful for rescuing zombie villagers without requiring a separate curing setup.
Personal Protection
Offerings provide temporary protection to the player who makes the offering. Fire Resistance helps protect against fire and lava, while Glowing makes the player easier to see.
The effects last for 30 seconds per offering. Make another offering after they expire if continued protection is needed.
Crafting And Obtaining
The Sacred Ember Ward uses a campfire, coal, and a log in a shaped crafting recipe. The coal and log ingredients can be supplied by their respective Minecraft tags, so compatible variants are accepted.
In Creative mode, the ward is available in the Functional Blocks tab.
Progression And Strategy
- Place a ward near the center of a settlement to cover several buildings at once.
- Keep important areas within 128 blocks of the ward and within an active player’s range.
- Use multiple wards for large bases or widely separated structures.
- Place the ward near areas where zombie villagers may appear so they can be converted automatically.
- Carry logs, flowers, or honeycomb when entering dangerous areas; offering one to a nearby ward grants both Glowing and Fire Resistance.
- Do not rely on the ward alone against blazes, slimes, piglins, shulkers, witches, ravagers, or illagers, since these creatures are immune to its purge.
