Redstone Spark Pickaxe

Quickstart

1. Craft the Redstone Spark Pickaxe using redstone, iron ingots, sticks, and flint and steel (recipe below). It should also appear automatically in your recipe book shortly after you join the world.
2. Use it like a normal pickaxe to mine ore, including redstone ore.
3. Find or place a block of TNT, then right-click it with the pickaxe. Instead of breaking, the TNT will vanish and a lit, primed TNT entity will appear in its place — get clear before it explodes!

Overview

The Redstone Spark Pickaxe is a single special tool that combines everyday mining with a bit of redstone showmanship. It behaves like a sturdy iron pickaxe for digging, but its real trick is turning any TNT block into a primed, ready-to-explode charge with a single tap — no flint and steel striking animation, no fuse-lighting delay, just an instant spark.

How To Use

• Mining: Equip the pickaxe and mine blocks as you would with any pickaxe. It mines at iron-tier efficiency, which is enough to break both regular and deepslate redstone ore.
• Igniting TNT: Right-click on a placed TNT block with the pickaxe. The block is removed and replaced by a primed TNT entity that will explode after its normal fuse time, accompanied by a fuse-lighting sound.
• Durability: Each time you ignite TNT with the pickaxe, it takes a small amount of damage, so it will eventually need repairing or replacing after enough uses. Mining also wears it down like a normal tool. Players in Creative mode do not consume durability when igniting TNT.
• The pickaxe can only hold one at a time in a stack (it does not stack with itself), so keep it in your hotbar for quick access.

Craft the pickaxe using redstone dust, iron ingots, sticks, and flint and steel arranged as shown:

Abilities And Mechanics

• Instant TNT priming: Right-clicking TNT with this pickaxe skips the usual step of striking it with flint and steel — the TNT block is instantly replaced with an active, primed TNT entity that will detonate on its own timer.
• Iron-tier mining: The pickaxe mines blocks at the same speed and level as an iron pickaxe, making it fully capable of harvesting redstone ore and other iron-tier blocks.
• Combat stats: Like other pickaxes, it can be used as a weapon in a pinch, dealing modest damage with a pickaxe's typical swing speed.

Progression And Strategy

Use the Redstone Spark Pickaxe as your go-to tool for redstone-themed builds and traps: instead of carrying separate flint and steel, you can mine your ore and detonate your TNT contraptions with the same tool. Keep an eye on its durability meter, especially if you're chain-igniting multiple TNT blocks in survival mode, and always retreat to a safe distance immediately after sparking TNT since it begins its explosion countdown the instant it's primed.
